Warning Weight Loss Gimmick: What you should know about Wraps

 Warning Weight Loss Gimmick: What you should know about Wraps

I was just contacted by a woman who used to be a member of ClubFYM – and I sure hope she did not spam our community.

I received quite a nasty email from her after telling her I – nor our community – was interested in the “weight loss gimmick” – my own words- she was attempting to pitch to me in a private email.

This is of great concern to me for I feel too many of us are taken advantage of by the weight loss industry as it offers the next best gadget, pill or device to help you “lose inches – lose weight” in minutes and without any effort on your part.

I want to share the email this woman sent to me in an effort to help inform you and help you have the instinct and the knowledge to not fall prey to such tactics.

See her Surprising Email to me Below!

As always, I appreciate your questions, concerns and views – and I apologize ahead of time if anyone is offended by what I am sharing….but if you feel uncomfortable – this may be a good sign, a sign that it is time to make a change – a positive lifestyle change – not a quick fix gimmick.

Please know that I am here to help you – your results, your health, your overall view of life – this is my passion and is of my highest concern. I hope it is evident in all I provide here for you.

So while this article carries with it a bit of negativity, my hope are that you will glean some take away info that will protect you and the women you care about.

I feel kind of like a teacher – asking you TO take a look and share what Red Flags you can find. Oh and to even comment on the response she left for me.

That would be a fun assignment – wouldn’t it?

Here we go….

The Product:

comes in a variety of forms….

Her Response to my unwillingness to take part in promoting a product
that leads women to believe that they can lose inches with no effort at
all.

~~~~~
Holly,
I am quite surprised with your response.
I don’t even know what to say except you are wrong. Dead wrong. Period.
I am NOT a “marketer” as you seem to have some hatred towards. I guess
you have some way of finding out info about this product which I have
never posted on your site but you seem to know.
This is NOT a “quick fix” or a gimmick. It is not a “fad”. You have no
right to call it anything since you have not PERSONALLY seen its
effects and the wonderful things it is doing to help people finally get
skinny, be healthy, and feel good about themselves, where every other
thing they have tried fails, yes, even yours.
I am sorry about being so blunt, but you really hit a nerve attacking
me like that. Yes, “good old effort” DOES work, and you can go ahead
and fix your few, but I am going to change the world!
Your women WILL find this and it WILL work for them. You cannot stop something that works.
I will go ahead and paste the rest of the letter I was writing you,
before you got impatient and decided I was an evil “fad marketer”.
Here is what I was GOING to send to you:
Holly,
That is EXACTLY why I contacted you first…LOL
Here is the scoop.
About 6 weeks ago, I was jogging (trying to lose that good ol’ fat) and
I stopped by a woman’s house who had put a sign on her car stating that
I could lose inches in 45 minutes. I laughed a little, but since I was
beginning to get desperate to rid myself of my fat, I stopped.
She told me about a product called the Ultimate Body Applicator, which
is exclusively distributed by a company called It Works! Marketing.
They are located in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
I tried the product and amazingly enough, it worked. Not only did it
work, but it has changed my life. Not only did I get rid of the excess
fat off my belly with NO effort and have many other positive side
effects to my body, but I signed up to market this product as well.
I wrapped my ever so skeptical husband, who immediately lost 3.5 inches
in one wrap. He has refused to change his diet of Dr. Pepper,
cheeseburgers, Twinkies, and beer. Despite this, he is now 6 inches
less round in the middle, lost his Mommy Belly, without even changing a
thing.
I have been using the applicator on anyone that will listen since my
results and research, and I even flew down the company convention in
Florida to meet the founders of the company.
This product works and I know it. Everyone I have wrapped is losing is
inches, with no changes to their normal lifestyle. Of course, some
people actually have become motivated about exercising and changing
their eating habits. Wow…a REVERSE DIET…LOL But sometimes people
need something to motivate them, to help them to have the strength to
make positive changes in their lives. This product DOES that.
I know without seeing it firsthand, it might be a little difficult to understand why I am so excited.
I hope you will check this opportunity out thoroughly and if you would
like to talk with anyone in the company, just let me know.
My website is www.itworks.net/travelwraps I also have information on www.360wichita.com in the Health and Beauty category.
If you need more information, I will be happy to send you whatever you need to understand this product and company.
Please do not hesitate to ask me anything. Call me anytime.
Thanks for listening.
~~~~

I’d love to hear what you think.
Am I the one who is crazy for not giving this woman and her product a chance in the ClubFYM community?

    I’m a big believer in giving people the benefit of the doubt. However, I went to the website for this wrap and other than the plethora of healthy sounding “natural juices and berries” (as I like to call it) they put into their product, there is no science at all revealed on how this could possibly work. No dramatic improvements have ever been proven healthy or long lasting. Good for you Holly, for not letting anyone pitch you on such bunk.

    Thanks for keeping this sort of stuff off your site. For me FYM is about way more than “losing inches”. It’s about achieving a HEALTHY and LASTING lifestyle.

    If I wanted the quick fixes I wouldn’t be with FYM, I would (still) be surfing the net for the next magic cure!

    Sadly there will always be a market for ‘miracle’ cures to fat and weight loss as people want to change without having to do any work – as if this can ever be maintained in the long term! This is what JaNine is boasting about in her letter and really made me laugh, her husband losing 6 inches while refusing to change his poor diet – if that food made him grow the fat it will do it again, a wrap cannot change the composition of food or change how your body metabolises it! I feel sorry for the people who don’t have anyone looking out for them like you do Holly, and will waste their money and have their emotions played with believing the hype of this product.

    What I love about the FYM lifestyle is that it’s not a quick fix, it’s a lifestyle change. If you are what you eat then I’d much prefer to be fruits and vegetables, not burgers and Coke. I’d much rather be getting stronger from the inside, and then losing weight because of that, than just getting slimmer because of some quick fix product. I want to live a long, healthy and happy life, I want to be running around with my grand kids. Even if this product did what it claims, which I very much doubt, I don’t want to be slimmer without being healthier too. The FYM lifestyle works, I’ve put in a lot of time and effort over the past 6 months and my results are now accelerating. Thanks Holly for stopping this woman, she may have side tracked some women before they got to experience the types of results they could get by following the FYM lifestyle for a while.

    Holly, Perhaps she doth protest too much. My old hairdresser offered a seaweed wrap, and yes, it does take inches off, but she warned that it was merely taking water from the cells, and would leave you so exhausted that she recommended you sleep after the procedure. She said in order to keep the inches off, for that big night out, you should drink (any liquids) only sparingly. It was used just to show off for a few hours, because as she said, your cells would rehydrate as soon as they are offered water.
    She sold the product and actually didn’t recommend it.
    I don’t know about this diamond wrap, but it’s probably the same sort of idea.
    As for JaNine, she said she was jogging, and as you say, jogging (or any one boring exercise) alone is doesn’t always work, and can leave people discouraged. Perhaps so discouraged that she’d try anything and was set up like many other people.

    I’ve tried wraps, I’ve tried those little electric impulse discs, I’ve tried pills … what works is a healthy lifestyle!
    Fresh foods made from scratch, no additives you haven’t decided on and chosen; exercise; hydration; rest. THAT’s what works.

    JaNine, jogging actually uses 50% body sugars as energy and 50% fat. If you want to get rid of the fat, power walking burns 75% fat (and a mere 25% sugars). Running is even worse than jogging, 75% sugars, 25% fat. Guess why I don’t run or jog! And building muscle will burn off even more fat.

    I guess one day she’ll stop wrapping and come to her senses? Hope so for her.

    5 Reasons why Body Wraps are Better than FYM!

    1. You can eat as much junk as you want and pile on loads of ugly fat, safe in the knowledge that just 45 mins of lying around doing nothing will get rid of it later on

    2. There’s no need for social support so you can be as aloof and detatched from the rest of the world as you please

    3. Your kids will grow up knowing that “healthy nutrition” and “exercise” is only for losers who don’t understand the power of the body wrap

    4. Even though it’s taken you a lifetime to build up all that ugly fat on your body, it will only take 3 days to get rid of it

    5. Obviously they work so Janine is now the richest woman on the planet because she has found a MIRACLE CURE for Obesity – a disease which has swept the planet and has now become an epidemic. Janine will be collecting her Nobel Peace Prize next week.

    Holly,
    I think you missed the big picture here….there’s a miracle going on…she said her HUSBAND lost HIS MOMMY BELLY!!! Her husband had a mommy belly? Her husband had a baby???
    Someone alert the media!!! A true miracle, even bigger than the miracle she claims her products perform, has taken place!!! A man has a MOMMY BELLY! That must mean he had a baby, right???
    I’m sorry if I can only make a joke out of this, but I call ‘em like I see ‘em!

    Hi Holly…I want to thank you for your inspiring stories of those who are working the FYM program and succeeding. I think Janine is winning here. She is getting the recognition for her product and depending on the attitude of each person reading the email, it could be viewed as a positive or negative solution. If it were me, I would just say thank you for your idea, however I am here to promote a healthy “lifestyle” to my clients and wish her the best of luck and health. The FYM program is a lifestyle change which guides us to eat healthy and exercise so that we have energy and look and feel healthy leaving us more confident and positive. We absolutely NEED the water in our body to flush out the FAT and give us energy. When we become dehydrated, we get headaches and we are tired and our urine is very yellow. I am positive that most of us reading this have enough common sense to understand that the quick fix doesn’t give us the results we are looking for and we just don’t need to move on.
    Stay positive!!

    I tried body wraps several years ago and spent well over $300.00. Body wraps are nothing but a waste of time and money. They wrap you up for 45 minutes and says that it detoxifies and cleanses the body and helps you lose inches. After your body wrap you go home and eat whatever you want and put those toxins right back into your body. Guess what? That $70.00 you just paid to have those toxins removed and that 45 minutes you just spent laying there is nothing but a waste of time and money. Body wraps cannot stop your metabolism from storing fat from that twinkie you just ate!

  13. Lisa
    October 21, 2008 | 10:29 am

    Wow, if she actually thought that you would believe her hype she obviously never read or tried your program! I have read all about bady wraps and how they work in the past(as a warning from other fitness pro’s)and if this is the route people choose I sure hope they aren’t looking for results that last more then 48h. Wraps are the same as a sauna, yes you loose inches, it’s called water weight, as soon as you re-hydrate yourself it comes back! It is so frustrating to see people praying on peoples hopes and dreams this way! I don’t know what Holly said to her but her message couldn’t have been worded to strongly in my opinion, people like that need people like Holly to put them in there place. Way to go Holly!

    Thank you for putting a quick stop to JaNine’s nonsense. It is a shame that people still want to believe you can get something for nothing. Life doesn’t work that way.

    If you want to keep more money, you’ve got to become more intelligent about personal finances. If you want better health, you’ll have to sweat a little, breathe a bit harder, and get a little red in the face to keep improving.

    You are a quality woman with a proven product, Holly. We appreciate you being a straight-shooter when it comes to these scammers.

    Thank you for keeping this off your website, Holly. I’m here because you are showing me how “I” can make a lifestyle change. If I want a “quick fix” then I will go to other websites to do so. So I really do appreciate your effort to keep it off of here.

    I also don’t think she has a right to be on someone else’s website unless she has that person’s permission.

    Great responses from everyone here. I’ve never fallen for any kind of gimmicks because they never make sense. I know pills can be dangerous, fads are unbalanced, and gizmos are limited. When it comes to “Wraps” I fail to see how wrapping the exterior of your body with something will have any kind of lasting healthy effect on the inside of the body. We wrap our bodies every day with clothing; it has no effect on our insides.

    It sounds similarly ridiculous to someone saying; “Hopping up and down on your left foot while patting your nose with your right hand will cure you of cancer.” <—-Now THAT would be obviously silly.

    I learned years ago it’s all a matter of what you eat, how you eat it, and how active you are.

    Thanks Holly for being a great guardian.

    Thank you Holly for keeping this “crap” out of our community. Why would you, who has worked so hard to put together this fantastic life style change, want to support on YOUR website a quick fix that, most people don’t realize, is that you have to continue to use this product over and over again to get results? HELLLOOOO earth to wrap lady??? Eating right and exercising are the ONLY things to do to properly “lose your baby belly”. And who is to say that even though they claim the ingredients are natural, people who are taking medications or aren’t healthy to begin with can have some major problems with these ingredients that are introduced through the skin. And you are far from a marketing hater. I have seen other products featured on CLUBFYM, but they co inside with our beliefs and fit into the whole CLUBFYM lifestyle. Some people will just never understand the concept. Good for you Holly. Always stick with your beliefs!

    Laugh!!!! I roar with laughter.

    Why every one wants to LOOSE fast the FAT and WEIGHT gained over years????

    I’ve tried almost every thing to “loose weight” and something worked for a short period or not worked at all, until I realized that being in the right weight and perfect shape must come form an inner conviction of change habits, lifestyle, routine, eating patterns and sometimes the people you mingle with… Since January 14th 2008, I have lost 58 pounds and still loosing.

    This product is marketed as a fast and easy way to loose inches, but read what they say: “it is highly recommended you strive for better eating habits as well as moderate exercise” to ensure the best results of their product, so we go back to the principle that a balance diet and a proper exercise is the Best Way to be healthy and keep a good shape.

    The weight and fat loss is a MILLIONS DOLLARS industry, money that comes form our pockets. Let’s keep on the way we are.

    Last week I started with the 6 weeks fat loss jumpstart and yesterday with the intervals, and the only wraps I’ll have for lunch today are 4 leafs of lettuce, wrapping 4 ounces of chicken breast with spinach… ummmm!!!!

    Have a great week.

    Amazing! *smirk*

    Well, everything has been said already, and if you’re still reading the comments you just want another good laugh.

    And who wouldn’t?

    My major issue with this “lady” – her behavior is NOT lady-like at all – is that she cannot even spell correctly! I mean, if you’re going to “burn” someone, at least use spellchecker! Anyway, I’m a real bookworm so, things like that tick me off! If you can be so bold as to present a concept that is so TOTALLY against the very mission and purpose of a group, at the very least attempt to do it with some class!

    Very poor taste and seriously, would I want to boast about my husband’s obvious headlong dive towards a major coronary or a stroke? “Yeah lady’s, and we smoke crack on the weekend’s too!”

    My last beef – I promise: Did anyone notice this?
    And I quote:

    “Yes, “good old effort” DOES work, and you can go ahead and fix your few, but I am going to change the world!”

    Can anyone say “god-complex”?! Fix the world with wraps? Hmmm, right after we fix the American economy by giving everyone an extra tax rebate – I got mine, but is the American economy really fixed? I think not – not even close to it! This is probably the most laughable attack I’ve seen on good health and hard exercise, ever! Plus, how many of you define the word “few” to mean hundreds of people? That’s what I thought!

    Keep up the good work Holly! Every true forerunner gets to the arrows first – just be sure to duck! :-)

    God Bless you!

    Holly,

    I believe you did the right thing allowing her to confuse us and mess up what we’ve been working hard on doing. Taking care of ourselves and getting back on track to a healthier us. It’s hilarious all the different gimmicks that are out and have been around. But then it’s also sad all the people who fall into the traps and spends all their money and time on things that are only quick fixes but don’t get down to the core of becoming healthy and alive.

    When I read this article I was thinking about the movie WALL E. All those humans who got brainwashed to become lazy and expecting electonics, robots, and other nonnatural things to do the work for them. It’s sad but we’re slowly going in that direction. I don’t know about you but I’m definitely gonna keep my genetic of being mobile and eating right to maintain a healthy physique. God put us here to freely move and express ourselves not become leftovers wrapped up in saran wrap.

    Holly you go girl! And keep up the positive help and mentoring you’re doing for all us FYM!!!!

    Holly,

    One of the reasons I love this site are that you approve membership so that con artists can’t get in.

    Also, the fact that you provide so much free advice and content to you members is a sign of your character and concern for your “girls”.

    Many people are desparate, but let’s hope not that desparate!

    Thanks!

    Holly,

    Good for you! I LOVE this post.

    As you know, there are lots of “tricks” you can do to suck out water from the fat cells temporarily. But the more often you rely on these tricks, the more DAMAGE you do to your body, mind and spirit. You start to feel like YOU’RE the one who’s the failure… but really it was the approach that failed you.

    I’m so happy to see that you have the GUTS to stand up to these gimmicks and write about them to all of us.

    You are a treasure to all women.

    Yours In Health And Abundance,
    Andrea

    Hi Holly,
    thanks for approving me as a member. When I began to reassess my nutrition at the beginning of the summer I felt tempted to give into the same gimmick. I’m so glad I didn’t though. In college I’m influenced by so many things that it is confusing and I’m glad I could trust you to look out for bogus things like this.

    I have also tried these wraps (once) and I found it a load of rubbish. The so-called rep told me that I am not allowed to sweat when I have the wrap on me. How the hell can’t you sweat with a bunch of cream and nearly a whole roll of “lunch wrap” rolled around your body?
    I really did feel like a sandwich left in the sun. Luckily I bought it when it was on special. Afterwards my Dad used it to wrap his coins in that he collected.
