The Truth About Being a Fit Yummy Mummy

My Confession

This comes as a result of posting a photo on Facebook (see the Lean Abs Circuit Article) which received quit a bit of negative feedback. This video was made shortly after to help not only clarify these incorrect assumptions about who I am and what I do….but I also wanted to reveal a tiny bit of what it means to be a fit and busy mom.

Yes, I am a real person and a busy mom just like many of you.  I struggle with not having enough time in the day to check off one of the dozens of To Do’s. I work from home so have to manage a fussy baby more often than I’d like. I’m always juggling events, needs of the family, household tasks, running errands, attending pratices/sporting events, etc. Oh and then there is the time I make to stick to healthy eating, getting my workouts in and just plain old – Taking Care of Me – this all requires daily effort.

Add all this on top of the fact that, as I mentioned above, I manage my own online business and work from home.

Every day I am answering emails, facebook posts, writing for my blog, writing for my website, taking care of the members of ClubFYM.com, scheduling time to design and video the upcoming workouts of the month that must be completed in a timely fashion for my members, organizing, holding and managing transformation challenges, staying on top of projects that are being created for future launches, offering my time for interviews and teleseminars, and the list goes on.

I have many days when I reflect on the time I spent working on my business, working in my business and quality time spent with my family and it is no where near the balance I wish to achieve.

It is – and I am – a work in progress.  I am very passionate about what I have to offer and to those I help that it is easy for me to get caught up in what I do and put the needs of my family and myself on hold.

This is why I believe the negative words of those who unfairly judge me (especially by just a pose in a photo), tend to catch me off-guard and sting a bit. While I do get that this is what comes with the territory of being a public figure online and my time/energy should not be wasted on naysayers….if I may say the nice thing about this experience, is that it has allowed me to take this opportunity to get personal and share my thoughts with you – with those who wonder or who were curious.

If you have followed me for any amount of time, you know I go above and beyond to give something more than a workout video or a downloadable ebook. Getting results is more than just a being a number, it is changing the way you think about yourself and the way you live your life. To achieve such changes requires the support, motivation and coaching from someone who gets it and someone who cares. This is why I put myself out there and do what I do.

Thank you to those who have followed, tried, embraced and now live the Fit Yummy Mummy lifestyle. Your support means more to me than words can say.

I don’t know much of the root that precipitated Holly to do this video but WOW BRAVO!!!! I feel like I can take on anything right I need to keep this video on those UUUGH!!! Days I’m thankful that you succintly stripped the B.S. with your analytical skill as well as your perceptive understanding of others. Your sharing supports millions and we get, LOVE, and appreciate this calling you have accepted with all it’s challenges. What an inspiration you are. This speaks volumes!!!!!!!!!

  9. Angie Albertson says:

Bam! Take THAT, haters! Holly, for what it’s worth, I think you are nothing short of amazing. I have also been called out for my “manly” or “bulky” arms, but I am damn proud of the hard work I put in to EARN that muscle! Nearly a couple of years ago (even though we have never actually met) I saw you at Ryan and Kim Ketchum’s wedding, and even in a VERY pregnant state, you looked stunning. You are living proof that with hard work and dedication, amazing things CAN happen. You rock!

  10. Julie says:

    Hi Holly,

I never comment but just had to this time. Please don’t let some negative comments override all the positive ones!( I know you don’t ), just wanted to encourage you. You ARE motivational, you ARE an inspiration . Thank-you for what you do.

Wow! Just saw your raw honest confession video and all I have to say is… You are a busy mom’s secret weapon to beauty, better health, strenghth!! I don’t know what I’d do without your awesome, easy to follow WODs at home! You are an intelligent, strong, inspiring, wonderful, supportive trainer and then some. Unfortunately, people can be cruel and hate themselves for not having the strength to accomplish what you have and many of your clients. I can relate… I lost 70 lbs thanks to your WODs :) and awesome advice! I got many rude comments and positive too but the negative comments always hurt. So glad I ignored them and kept pushing forward :)
Cheers to good health, movement, strength, and a new day, everyday!

  12. Ashley Ward says:

Holly, I’m so sorry you had to justify what you do. You do so much to inform and inspire us FYM’s. To be honest it has kept me going. As you know it has taken me awhile to find a grove that I can be consistent but I have and I am starting to see a little. It of ab definition and muscle difinition in my arms.
It is funny, that I watched your video last night. It has been a crazy week and hard to get my intervals in (insanity) and was going to skip my workout last night and do it Saturday. I came home taekwondo and do it. It is 15 mins and I felt better the rest of the night. It is nice to feel that I am not alone and it isn’t just me that struggles to fit everything.
I feel that you are personally in touch with all of us. Now I know you can’t be. But your website, emails, motivations posts, and videos make a well known environment. Like a small town where everyone know everyone.
    Thanks in all you do!

  13. Hema says:

I haven’t read the -ve comments. Just cud feel the tension in you in this video. Don’t let them get to you friend. You are a wonderful motivator and remember you cannot please all. You are happy about yourself n there are many who adore you so why bother about the few insensitives. It’s your life n you do what you believe in. I’ll b 41 this Dec n hv two sons 8.5 n 1 yr. Am nowhere near your fitness level but in my own way hv altered my lifestyle n love your bodyweight exercises. Hv managed to drop my sizes in the past 3 months and am still carrying on. We are oceans apart (Me here in India), practically strangers but you have been a great source of inspiration. God Bless you and your family. Stay positive.

  14. Carrie says:

    Holly,

I purchased your ebook and program because yours was the most sensible and comprehensive plan I have seen. Thank you for your inspiration and motivation. I’m still reading everything, but will be starting soon. I plan to come home from my 6 month deployment being the fittest yummyest mom I can be! Thank you again!

  15. Cheryl P says:

Too bad you had to make that video Holly. I agree with everyone who says that you are an inspiration and a motivation and there will always be people who hate on you because they are just jealous and negative. It’s so easy for them to make those catty, mean comments because by doing so they are putting the attention outside of themselves instead of turning it inward and really realizing that the comments are all about them and not you. I know because I used to be more like that myself. The true “fans” of your page support you and appreciate that you are a real person with real, everyday problems that we all face between trying to raise a family, keeping a home together, working and taking care of ourselves. You do it all with grace. Thanks for caring for all of your true FYM fans, you are appreciated more than you know. :)

  16. Maria says:

Hey Holly just saw your video and I am just dumb founded. I haven’t seen the negative comments that you speak of but I just can’t believe the nerve of some people. I believe you work hard at staying lean cause I know from experience. I too am I busy mom but I make time to workout everyday, and eat a clean diet and for that my body looks good for it. I too get those stupid comments from time to time, and it too makes me mad because I know how hard I work to get my results ya know. Some people are born with great bodies and don’t have to work, but for others such as myself, I have to work hard at it, and I enjoy doing so. It’s just ashame you had to do this video. God bless you, I love all your videos and emails. They are just petty and jealous people! Here’s to our health! =o)

  17. Laurie says:

I get it!…..too bad the negative and quick to judge don’t, if they did they would be feeling alot better about themselves. You go girl, we all love you and your advice and encouragement!!

  18. Liz Brumley says:

Holly- my heart is sad that people would be so down right mean. It obviously upset you, and it should. Comparisson is the thief of all joy and I love it that you don’t want anyone to “be like” or “look like” you. Instead encouraging them to be the best version of themselves. Continued blessings on the work of your hards and thank you for helping the rest of us be the best versions of ourselves!

  19. Holly…all I have to say is YOU ROCK!!!! You are the MOST DOWN TO EARTH, REAL person, friend, and motivational trainer/speaker/encourager I know!!! No reason ever to have to explain yourself…Let’s all pray that we can be loving and even half as encouraging to one another in this life as you are to your friends, family, and fans! XOXOXO…El

  20. Natalie says:

Negative people are miserable, so they want everyone else to be miserable too. Your positive attitude is just as threatening to them as your beautiful physique. I am fit, and strong, and shapely, and I work hard for it in the gym and try to eat as much nutritious stuff as I can while still enjoying the things that I enjoy. On the other hand, I know for a fact that I am not willing to eat clean enough of the time to be as tiny and lean as you are… But THAT’S OK. It doesn’t mean I still can’t be inspired by your videos, photos, and emails. If you didn’t have the very lean and toned physique that you have, there would be plenty of people who could find something negative to say about that too. (It’s actually probably the number one reason I don’t use my own personal trainer certification – because I’m afraid people would feel they then had the greenlight to criticize my body and say “who do you think YOU are teaching fitness when your thighs are that big?”) To sum it up, you’re doing great, they are so many people who learn from and appreciate you. Keep doing what you’re doing!!!!!

  21. Ktowngirl says:

    Hi Holly,
I loved your video and the reminder that we can all be the best that we are created to be if we are willing to put in the work. And yeah it’s hard as a busy mom. Too bad not everybody gets why you post motivational pictures–thinking you are saying, “hey look at me” is so off base! You are truly beautiful, caring, motivating and inspirational. I appreciate all that I’m learning from you. Thank you for sticking with it. Your online community is an amazing concept and I’m so thankful to be a part of it. You ROCK!!

  22. Alma says:

Holly you are a God send and you are here to help busy weman like me who wants real and permanent change without excuses at all full stop. Whoever has a negative comment must give it a try, they’ll be shocked. I am a believer of club FYM, had first hand experience and had results which were beyond expectations. I signed up with a goal of loosing mummy belly but hey got more than that. Talk of my energy levels, nomore back pains, improved sleeping patterns, endurance, my body is flexible and can perform various moves I could not do before. Above all I love the fact that I have come to understand food and their impact on my body, I know what to eat, when to eat it and how much of it. Keep up the good work Holly, we (club fym) is here to stay.

  23. Jan Coughlin says:

Hey Holly – people who knock those that are successful at whatever they do really just feel badly about themselves and need to put others down for their successes because in some very strange and maybe even sick way, it makes them feel better. We FYM are all above that kind of crap!! We know why you (and us) do what we do!!! Keep on doing it your way….and that will encourage us to keep on doing it as well!!! You are amazing and I’m so sorry you had to justify who and what you are really about! Awesome video! Love ya…Jan

  24. Melanie says:

Your the best & well said Holly. Thanks for all your support and in turn…..here supporting you too. God bless.

  25. Denise Dodson says:
