How I Dropped 6 Sizes And Lost Over 30 Pounds Of Baby Weight!

Danielle shares her amazing success story after having her baby last May and finding the solution to her post baby weight loss plan.

“I have been 30 pounds overweight for most of my adult life and (like everyone else) have tried absolutely everything under the sun to lose weight.

I found Fit Yummy Mummy in May 2009. I was motivated by your website because you are a mother (my baby girl was born 7/1/2008) and because the diet and exercise plans seemed simple enough without a huge commitment of time. The meal choices seemed doable and 20 minutes a day was possible even with work and a baby!

One of the biggest things I found helpful in your Fit Yummy Mummy book is the in-depth understanding of how metabolism works. We’ve all heard “eat smalls meals” and such, but without really understanding WHY, I never got around to it and didn’t think it mattered.

I didn’t see any results in the first 3 weeks and almost gave up.

I forced myself to stay the course and all of a sudden, my metabolism seemed to change because then I started melting off 2 pounds per week on average! Two months in, I plateaued at a 10 lb loss so I added food tracking and increased my weights.

By September 2009, I was down 20 pounds and from a size 12 to size 8! Unfortunately, I got sick many, many times throughout the winter… but I maintained my loss and picked back up in March 2010 to train for a 5 mile race.

One year ago, I looked at the overweight Mommy pictures and cried.

I was 162 pounds at 5’2″ and a snug size 12. I didn’t want to be the Mommy that couldn’t keep up with her little girl. I want her to be healthy and inspired. She was my main motivation and you helped me stay the course.

Now, I am 132 pounds and a size 6!

Even more exciting, my company offered a free health assessment and not only am I in the NORMAL BMI range for the first time since HIGH SCHOOL, but my cholesterol was down to 128 after being as high as 236 in my overweight past!

Next month, my husband and I are signing up for a rock climbing course. The possibilities are endless now and we are going to be a healthy, fit family going forward.

This is a photo from 2008 is when my daughter Kalina was 4 days old… I weighed 203 lbs going into the labor room and 191 coming home. Fortunately breastfeeding took most my pregnancy weight off, but since I was overweight to begin with, something had to change.

This is the photo from 2009 was the picture I saw and cried about. My daughter was 9 months old and I looked awful. In fact, in looking for “before” photos, I had NO other pictures of myself because I never wanted to be in them.

These final 2 photos are of my 5 mile race – new body, a big accomplishment and my little girl there to cheer me on!

Fit Yummy Mummy has changed my life!

I remember reading and re-reading the other success stories on the blog and being inspired so if I can add another one and inspire another Mommy out there to do it- then I’m happy for it.

This is the only time in my life where I’ve actually HAD a success story and before/after photo!

Thank you so much for your book – you are an inspiration and I hope my story inspires some more readers!

Sincerely,

Danielle Zimmermann, Mom of One, Washington

WOW, Danielle!! What a tremendous inspiration you are! I am so excited that you followed through and pushed through the first few weeks when you wanted to quit. But you hung in there!

You have made a fantastic accomplishment. You look so much healthier and so much cuter now. GREAT job!

The thing that excites me the most is hearing that there are other FYM’s who are not on clubFYM, the online forum, and you are still doing what you need to do and you are succeeding! Having the courage to do what needs to be done and the determination to stick with it–you rock, Danielle!
