Happy New Year!
Wow – 2010!
What better way to kick off this NEW Year with New Year’s Workout video with Tabatas!
I have to say…it has been a tradition to go to our local gym on the 1st day of each new year just to see what everyone is up to when it comes to Workouts and New Year’s Resolutions.
As I predicted – there was not one piece of cardio equipment free. Fine with me for I enjoy having the space to myself in the free weight area. Plus, seeing what the majority of people are doing gives me the ideas and inspiration to write some helpful articles so you avoid the mistakes, avoid the frustration, avoid the wasted time and focus on the strategies that GET RESULTS!
I will start off by telling you that CARDIO is NOT the solution to your Fat Loss goals!
Is cardio important – SURE!
But I rarely see people using cardio effectively. They KEY to cardio is to keep it Short and Intense. As a Fit Yummy Mummy I have save busy moms from wasting their time “doing” more and more cardio. Instead I teach Interval Training. To help demonstrate how “easy” this is to do, my workout today was FUN, quick and effective ~ a four minute 20-10 Tabata workout!
NOTE: This type of cardio workout is super challenging. If you are new to working out or new to intervals, please Consult your physician before you begin.
Once all is good, start out at an intensity that is appropriate to your fitness level. Tabatas are a condensed and intense form of Interval Training. With my 20-10 Tabata Workout you will alternate between 20 seconds of work and 10 seconds of rest. Perform this 30 second cardio sequence 8 times for 4 total minutes.
I chose to alternate between the Squat Press and Advanced Mountain Jumpers.…working at an intensity that matches my fitness level. During my “rest” I simply march in place.
This is just a sample but you CAN download the Full Tabata MP3 Soundtrack and get more bonus videos by logging in to >>> ClubFYM.com plus get new ideas on ways to do your intervals!
If you are tried of having to Start OVER on your fat loss and fitness goals each “New Year” and are ready to Get Serious about Getting Results….then you MUST not Miss your opportunity to take part in the Fit Yummy Mummy 12 Week Transformation Challenge!
While their is no magic short cut to body shaping results there IS something Magical about…

I just finished my first 12 week challenge and saw amazing results, so I am kind of new to all these workouts.
If I use this Tabata workout for my interval cardio days (I currently do 3 days of weights, 3 days of interval cardio), won’t I be overdoing my muscle workout since I will be lifting weights 6 days in a row?
Thanks Holly for all the great ideas….
Holly, Happy New Year!!! I have to say, I LOVE your mat! The flowers are way cool! Hugs to you and your family!
Can’t wait for the New Years Transformation Challenge to begin!
Perfect timing, Holly, thanks for explaining again what tabatas are for and reminding us not to fall for the cardio myths! These tabatas are great and I am going to do them today!
Holly, Happy New Year!!! and thanks for the videos.
That did look like a lot of fun Holly! I still can’t believe how short it is and you can still get results. I definitely wanna try it out. Great video to start off the new year, keep bringing them Holly. Happy New to you and your family!!
Thanks for another fun tabata intervals idea, Holly! Here’s to a fit and healthy 2010! A great start to a new decade!
Great tabatas! I have tried those leg exercises a time or two since you did the workout w/ Scott. They are much more demanding than they look. I like this pairing. Happy New Year to you and all FYM’s (and FYM’s to be!).
