Your BEST Mother's Day Gift

mother's day
A Meaningful Mother’s Day This weekend moms all around will be surprised with homemade gifts, boxes of chocolates, flowers and even a nice dinner out on the town. Mother’s Day ~ The day we are publicly recognized for all we do and all we give of ourselves to make the lives of everyone around us so awesome. Since it is so natural for us to get caught up in the busy-ness of our lives, I think it is important to stop and really take in the precious moments that will be share this weekend. I know I do it! Quickly reading through a card, saying thank you, giving hugs and continuing on with your day. I think it is time we truly stop and soak up every minute of it. Let go of expectations and see past what is presented to you – all the way through to the act of giving that comes from the people who love you the most. From seeing the look on your child’s face to the warm embrace from your husband. Something I picked up on from Tyler’s Field Trip this past week…taking brain pictures. Snap this memory and keep it in your mind and your heart. For dinner is over before you know it, cards get lost in the piles, flowers die and kisses are wiped away – but the genuine love you and your family share shines brightly. To help I thought it would be fun and inspirational to share stories of our favorite Mother’s Day “gifts” – - gifts in quotes for sometimes the best gift of all is just time spent with our families. Nice to get ideas and share the heartwarming stories I know all of us have. What is Your best Mother’s Day gift or most meaningful memory? Share your heart melting stories and Leave a Comment Below!

What a nice post. I am not a mum myself but I do like to use mothers day as a way of showing mine how much I appeciate her all year. Mothers day is a great time to reflect on how wonderful our mums are and how grateful we are to have them. Loved the part about brain pictures – it really makes a difference to your happiness when you stop and really notice things x

My favorite ‘family’ quote right now:

    from Theodore Roosevelt –
“There are many kinds of success in life worth having. It is exceedingly interesting and attractive to be a successful business man, or railroad man, or farmer, or a successful lawyer or doctor, or a writer, or a president, or a ranchman, or the colonel of a fighting regiment, or to kill grizzly bears and lions. But for unflagging interest and enjoyment, a household of children, if things go reasonably well, certainly makes all other forms of success and achievement lose their importance by comparison.”
(from Family Fragrance: Practical, Intentional Ways to Fill Your Home with the Aroma of Love by J. Otis & Gail Ledbetter)

Last year was my very first mommy’s day! My baby was a couple weeks old and my first and only monther’s day gift was a Tiffany’s ring my husband got me. It has my baby girl’s birth stone in it (we happen to share our birthday month). Our plan with the ring is to get it engraved with her name and birth date and when she is a pre-teen it will be her ring. When I was a pre-teen my mother gave me a ring my father had given her with her initial (we share the same initial) and I embraced it as my purity ring. I pray and hope my daughter does the same :)
My gift was so sweet, but when I went to put it on I cried, it did not fit due to the weight I put on with the baby. But after my first challenge with FYM, it was on! I’m looking forward to this mother’s day, my baby is a year now and in such a fun stage. And I am blessed with the most amazing, wonderful and supportive hubby ever. He is even doing the Elimination Diet with me for this challenge! Happy Yummy Mummy’s day all!
ps- I might have to get the ring sized after this challenge, it’s getting loose! :)

All the “kids” are married now, so it is really special when everyone comes over ( 4 kids and their spouses and 6 grandkids!) and we go to church together and then out to brunch! I am so very proud of my family!

My third child, and my first son David, was born a day b4 mother’s day. I consider him my best Mothers’ day present as his birth was the easiest out of the 6 children and he has the sweetest and most pleasant personality. I love all my children, they are all beautiful!

This is my mom’s Happy Mother’s Day greeting last year:

“A woman has strength that amaze men. She can handle trouble and carry heavy burdens. She holds happiness, love and opinions. She smiles when she feels like screaming. She sings when she feels like crying, cries when she’s happy and laughs when she’s afraid. Her love is unconditional! There’s one thing wrong with her, she sometimes forgets what she is worth.”

She further wrote… pass this message to every beautiful woman you know, I just did.

So here I am passing this message to all the wonderful ladies here at fit yummy mummy. Happy Mother’s Day!
