How a Homeschooling Mom of 6 Banishes the Mommy Belly
There is nothing more inspiring than seeing the mommy belly melting, flat tummy results of REAL Moms – especially moms who have had multiple pregnancies, like Angela Coffman a Mom of 6! She is this week’s Featured Fit Yummy Mummy, sharing her transformation journey and how she was able to burn the mommy belly fat and get an even BETTER Body back just 6 months postpartum!
The photo shared above is actually Angela’s results photo from the 2011 Fall Transformation Challenge. She was the 3rd runner up losing over 12 pounds and 6 inches off her mommy belly in just 12 weeks.
Angela’s journey actually began as soon as she had the okay after having Baby #6.
Angela’s Mommy Belly Melting Journey
“I started fit yummy mummy when my baby was about 7 weeks old. I was so huge from my pregnancy weight gain that my belly sagged down over my waistbands.
I had gained a lot of weight during the end of my pregnancy. We took several trips including a cruise to Mexico and one for a television appearance with the 700 club. My nerves and the fantastic food all around me, made a fattening combination.
Also I suffered from a painful diastasis affecting my abs and pelvis making exercise nearly impossible.
I had been scouring the internet for ways to keep pregnancy weight gain to a healthy level. I found Holly on YouTube during and decided to join ClubFYM as soon as I got the okay from my Dr. to begin exercise again.
I didn’t realize how much the nutrition part of it would have helped during my pregnancy or I would have joined sooner.
I loved Holly’s videos because she showed how I could get enough of a workout to meet my fitness goals in just 15 minutes a day. As a homeschool mom of 6 and an entrepreneur with 3 businesses, I knew I didn’t have any more time than that to spend on exercise.
My initial goals were to lose enough fat so my stomach didn’t react to gravity, I also wanted to increase my energy and strength.
I met those goals in the very first transformation challenge, over a period of about 12 weeks. I lost 12 lbs; 2 dress sizes; and 13.5 inches. My photos showed a more dramatic change than what I expected from just 12 lbs gone. That’s from all the muscle Holly helped me build.”

Weight: 162.6 – 145 LOST over 17 Pounds
Mommy Belly: 41.5 – 34.5 MELTED 7 Inches
Hips: 41 – 38.5 REDUCED 2.5 Inches
Importance of ClubFYM
ClubFYM has given me accountability and encouragement. Knowing that I have chosen to write down what I eat and how I exercise and that other moms will read it, makes me want to make good decisions.
Also it helps to have access to a support group of moms who get it, being able to relate to others who are going through the same thing I am. Turns out I’m not the only mom who gains a ton of weight during pregnancy, or still makes bad food choices sometimes. It helps me to see other mom’s dust themselves off, get up and keep going.
Also, without the transformation challenges I never would have taken before pictures. Those pictures are essential to my motivation, removal of denial, and seeing true progress.”
Top 3 FYM Fat Loss Strategies
1. Eating 2 servings of produce and 15 grams of protein at every meal
2. Eating every 3 hours (I LOVE to eat!)
3. Planning my meals in advance and having the food prep done ahead (like veggies washed and cut, and chicken grilled and sliced in the fridge)
Favorite Meals & Snacks
My favorite breakfast:
Blueberry Oat Custard: 1⁄2 cup rolled oats; 3⁄4 cup milk; 1 egg; 1 tsp vanilla; 1 packet stevia. Mix all and cook and stir over medium heat until the mixture starts to thicken. Then stir in 1⁄2-1 cup blueberries (I use frozen wild blueberries from Costco.) Cook and stir just until warmed through. Makes 1 serving.
My favorite Dinner:
4 oz Italian Ground Turkey; 5 sliced baby bell peppers; 1⁄4 onion sliced; 2 cups spinach. Cook stir-fry style. (Sometimes I add more veggies like fresh or frozen long green beans; zucchini, mushrooms etc.)
My favorite Snack:
1 apple sliced; 1⁄4 cup dry roasted edamame.
I also love a 2 egg omelet filled with sautéed veggies like peppers, onions, mushrooms and spinach
Oh, and a huge bed of spinach with 4 oz lemon pepper grilled chicken breast, 1 cup sliced strawberries, a few chopped almonds and raspberry vinaigrette.
(Can you tell I love food? I can’t stop thinking about it…..)

How I Plan To Continue
Since the first challenge I have been working on maintain my results. We recently filmed a television episode; remodeled a home to sell; moved; started a new business venture; and have been recovering from severe illness that swept through the whole family. I’m so thankful that I was able to maintain and not gain during this time of huge stress!
I’m down to the last 10 lbs which are the hardest for me—especially when nursing. But I’m so excited to take part in the summer transformation challenge!
Fit Yummy Mummy and being involved in the online support at ClubFYM has helped me love myself, the way I am. I no longer look at myself and see how fat I am and think horrible thoughts.
I see a beautiful body who has given birth to 6 children.
Knowing that I can still achieve my dream body, even after age 35 and 6 deliveries…helps me embrace the amazing creation my body is.
