How To Workout At Home With Your Kids!

So you want to know how to workout at home with your kids?

If you have been at home all summer with the kids and feel as if you do not have a moment to yourself to get a workout in, yesterday I shared 3 Work At Home Mom S.O.S Tips to help you fit a workout in for the Summer Fat Loss Survival Kit: Stay Fit Tip #4 Video

Tip #3 is my Favorite – Involve Your Children

Not only will you be able to find the time to workout and find the Energy you need to zip through each day ~ you will add to the quality time you spend with your children.

Your children do not NEED to “workout” they need to PLAY and the activities outlined in the video do just that. You will be surprised at how some of the most “playful” moves quickly turn into a workout for YOU!

(FYI: In my home there is no “Wii Fit, no play station, no X Box….” for one – our bodies were meant to MOVE. It is vital for children to be given this opportunity and to have the freedom to explore the movements our bodies were designed for. There is just no way a Video game can come close to giving your children what traditional play – especially Play with parents – can provide)

By taking part in these “playful workouts” you are also modeling what a fit and active lifestyle is all about. With childhood obesity on the rise we must take responsibility for the habits we are creating for our children.

Get started today and see what a difference it makes not just to your ability to stick to your fitness plan, but to the relationship you have with your children.

OMG, thank you for allowing us to share with your family time! Today’s video was so sweet (in addition to plenty useful fitness wise!!!), I was almost brought to happy-tears at the end during your stretching. You are such a wonderful mother and Tyler is living proof. Beyond the fitness and nutrition motivation you provide with FYM, you are a true role model. Looking forward to your next one for sure!! Have a wonderful day

Love this! Just yesterday, I felt awful about grumping at my kids during my workout (“Just WAIT until I’m DONE!!! It’s 15 minutes, girls!” :P ) Thanks for demonstrating these excellent ways to incorporate them; they’ll be just as excited as I am to use them!

thanks for that, i have 5 boys age ranging from to 1 – 10 yrs, so as you can imagine i find it pretty difficult to find time to exercise when they are home, but i have just had some fab ideas, i may set them up their own circuits to do while im working out, personally i prefer to workout alone, i like to focus and concentrate etc, but this is ideal for them…….thanks again…

Hi Holly! Loved your video. My boys are 2 and 4 and it’s always a struggle to keep them entertained while I try and exercise, since they always want the stability ball or the mat to play with. Now I can get them involved!
PS – my boys love yoga/pilates moves!

    Hey Holly,

My kiddos (aged 4 and 7) watched this video with me and were just tickled pink. Although they already workout right beside me, these gave us some more great ideas! :) They can’t wait until my next workout. Now they are my accountability buggers..Mom when are you going to workout? hee! hee! For those that seem overwhelmed with more than 1 child, it works out for us to take turns with each child or have an older child work on the next step of the workout.

Tyler is incredibly cute. And one point you could add to the kid-friendly exercises is… let the kid pick the workout! If they’re going to run you ragged anyway…

Watching this made me think, though… do you have any fun workouts you could do with an adult partner? I’m 25 years old and just came home to live for a year. My mom and I both like to exercise, but we’re used to doing it alone. Are there any partner-style workouts we could do together?
