I love my Kettlebell!
As a busy mom – this has been one of my favorite go fat burning tools.
About 4 years ago I stumbled across this sneaky little workout tool that can quickly burn belly fat, boost energy levels – like literally overnight – and completely reshape and tighten your body.
There are dozens of reasons why I love my kettlebell… here are the THREE biggest reasons.
~ Portable
~ Challenging
~ Tighten Your Tummy
The tighter tummy results have been recently highlighted in my pre and post pregnancy weight loss…not only was I able to maintain core strength – but I was surprised at how quickly I was able to melt my mommy belly and get my flat tummy back after Alexander was born!
I incorporated the kettlebell into many of my prenatal workouts which helped me maintain strength throughout my pregnancy. After Alexander was born and as soon as I had my Dr’s okay, I was able to ease right back into my kettlebell workouts.
Check out my before and after photos….
As you can see, 6 days after Alexander was born. Photo 2 is 17 weeks postpartum. Along with my supportive nutrition plan, my kettlebell workouts helped me to not only get my body back, but regain my strength and help tone and tighten my mommy belly faster than I could have imagined!

Even more exciting – is the fact that consistency with
my workouts helped me Flatten and Tone my Tummy!
Here is a photo of my mommy tummy 8 months post baby – June 2011.

No this was not overnight – nor was it easy.
“Anything worth having is worth working for.”
If you do some browsing you will find it was a process of steps to even GET to this point. Results like this take commitment and hard work – but results are AB-solutely achievable : )
The kettlebell can be used anytime, anywhere which is perfect for Busy Moms who are always On The Go who only have 10-15 minutes to get a workout in.
Based on the request submitted by the busy moms I work with, I have partnered up with the world’s leading Female Kettlebell Expert – Pamela MacElree (who also took me through my Kettlebell Certification 3 years ago).

We spent the long Labor Day weekend filming a series of Kettlebell Workouts specific to Busy Moms.

I am wrapping up the final details and creating a fun video to show you some of my favorite moves – so while you wait – leave a comment below and let me know what Questions you have about Kettlebells!

LOVED the Kettlebell session at the FYM Summit last summer.
I said that if I didn’t get them for Christmas this year I would order them myself and I didn’t so I did on Dec. 26! Love doing the swings for IT, can’t wait to see what else you have for us in this new resource!
Since Kettlebell workouts are full body workouts that incorporate cardio into the workouts and since intervals are cardio, should you still do intervals after a kettlebell workout?
I’m so excited for this DVD release. I hope I win.
What specific kettlebell exercises are best for toning the core?
Ooh my gosh, what a perfect thing for me to read right now. My husband & I just had our 3rd little girl a month ago and I’m chompin’ at the bit to get rid of my mommy belly. I see your picture of you holding your little guy and I say to myself – I WANT THOSE ABS!!! My question is why do you feel that the kettle bell did so much more for you burning your post baby body/abs? Is it certain moves that you are able to do with a kettlebell vs. weights? Very interesting. You always hear that you will never get your abs back or the abs you want after you have babes…well I want to prove them all wrong and most importantly I want to prove to myself that I can have an even better abs after 3 babies.
I am super excited about kettlebells! I have never used them but just got a 10 and 15 pound for christmas. What weight do you suggest using?
I love kettlebells. There is nothing like them for a great full body workout. I work with one coach at the gym that regularly incorporates moves using them and they are fantastic at working the glutes and core.
I’ll be watching for your ‘faves video.’
Do kettlebell workouts cover all workout needs? Should they be alternated with other types of strength training or is it ok to just do kettlebell workouts? Thanks !!
If we are already doing FYM workouts how does kettlebells fit into our workouts. What do you think using kettlebells brought to your weight loss goals when your were getting back to your pre-baby weight that maybe you weren’t getting before with your regular workouts?
Wow this has certainly sparked my interest in these even more, I knew that they were a great item to add to my exercise equipment, I just didn’t realise just how great!! I too wonder what weight to begin with? This would be a perfect addition for me as I am returning to work very soon and have good strength and more energy would be of great help with having to clean houses all day.
I’d love to see the top excercises for abs and thighs that can be done at any time. I usually don’t get to do an official workout but will do a rep or two for 5 minutes here and there as I can. With so little time on exercising I’d like to know I’m getting the biggest bang for my buck, so to speak.
Will I need more than 1 size kettlebell for the workouts? I currently have a 20lb and love it for kettlebell swings, but I don’t do much else with it.
How many times per week can I workout with a KB and is it best to use a weight that gets my heart rate up as well as one that will increase my strength? Will your workouts have a variation of workouts for strength as well as cardio? Thanks Holly!!
I have a 5 pound kettle ball. Is that heavy enough to achieve results? I use 8-pound dumbbells in my FYM workouts.
Where do I start?
I decided that 2012 was the year I would try KB workouts. Baby is due in 4 weeks and I’d love to have another tool to help me get my body back after she arrives. Did you use your KB workouts for your interval training or incorporate them into your resistence training workouts after Alexander?
This looks great Holly! I’m sure you’ll get a great response!
I’m really interested in seeing a FYM sample kettlebell workout!
How do these compare to dumbells? I was about to buy a set of adjustable dumbells on craigslist, but wonder if this would be the better option.
Can’t wait for this Holly!! Is it better to start with a higher weight KB and modify or should we get different sized KB for upper and lower body?
Hi Holly,
Q: what size kettle bell(s) do you suggest I buy 1st for starting out doing kettle bell workouts?
Thanks
I am pregnant and would LOVE the kettlebell workout. I am determined not to gain that much weight this time. Thanks so much!
I LOVE KB workouts and usually incorporate them into most training sessions my sister just hd her first baby (literally she was born 18th Jan) but she is overseas and has no family and only a few friends around to support her as they have not long moved. As a supportive Aunty I would love to give her this as a present so that she has help and support getting back into shape even though I am not there in person to do it with her…… can’t wait to check it out for myself too!!
I love kettlebells would love to have your DVD’s to follow along to. How long are your DVD workouts? I like variety in 30 minutes or less!
I am intrigued by kettlebells but I’m worried about how I’ve seen people swing them. Is there greater risk for injury when using momentum or is it just really well controlled? Anyway, I would love to try it!
Wow look at all the responses!
I love KETTLEBELLS!
I prefer to lift weights over cardio and the KB is challenging.
One post asked what weight to start with and I have twins at 20pounds each so I use 20 pounds at minimum. I also ordered all but one off Amazon.com with free shipping!
I can’t wait to have more FYM KB videos. Already have one and want more!
Hello Holly,
Well been bugging my husband to buy me a kettlebell and he said to me then you will want the FYM Kettlebell DVD’s. How did he know that is what I really want.
I have been with you for nearly three years now and love the program. I am still struggling with the mummy belly and my strength. I find that I am needing more weight for my workout but also find that I seem to that my body has addapted to the exercise I am doing. YEs I mix it up.
Having the kettlebell DVD’s would give me a new boost to my workouts and get me really excited. Cant wait to see who wins. Happy Exercising to all.
This is VERY exciting! I just found a set of 3 kettlebells on sale and thought I’d give them a shot! If using them for intervals is 30/30 the best timing? Wasn’t sure if it became more of a strength exercise if I went longer?
Do you need several different weight kettleballs? Thanks!
I would like to know (when you are not filming) what weight of kettlebell to you use?
Holly, how would I work in the kettle bell DVD to my current 15min/day workouts where I alternate strength one day & interval the other. I am currently doing wk4-8Phase1 from ur DVD series.
I have been waiting for this since the summit! Got my KBs, now just need the DVDs! So pumped!
This is great Holly,
I’ve been wanting to incorporate kettlebells for my intervals for quite some time now, and finally found a place where I can buy them here in Hong Kong. What weight would you recommend to buy, for someone just srarting out with KB? Thanks!
Ooooohh! I’m so excited about the new kettlebell series! There aren’t very many kettlebell follow-along workout dvds out there–especially ones for women using decent-sized bells. I find that I really push myself much harder when using a follow along vs a list or a book. I think that with form being so important, for me, a video is the way to go.
Holly, I have the first kettlebell dvd you released and have been anxiously awaiting new ones!
I have no original questions, but wonder if it is possible to get in your shape using only kettlebell workouts. I just don’t really enjoy other workouts as much as kettlebells, but of course my goal would be to have anything close to your fitness level.
I been wanting to buy kettlebell for at least a year. Would be great if I can win your DVD, I need some motivation with my workout. With which movement should I begin ? Thanks
Holly, I have the same belly you had at six weeks, my baby is 16 this year!!! Help!!! I got a kettlebell, but don’t know what to do with it, this would be so great! Even though it’s been almost 16 years, I still want my body back!
Thanks
How will I know when it is time to move up to a new weight kettlebell?
I LOVE kettlebells. Excited that there is a DVD. I do the swing for IT. I have read in the forums that most kb moves are strength training moves and wonder if I have missed what moves can be used as an IT other than the swing?
Are kettle bells ok to use if my back bothers me occasionally? I have recently gained weight so sometimes have an ache, I know it is because of my mommy belly (4 kiddos were hard on the abs, but my youngest is old enough that I really have no excuse to have a mommy belly anymore! I am ready for a change and KB sound like a great start!!!!
I have loved all the other DVD Workout sets that I have purchased. I can’t wait to see these! Will want to know of a type or brand of kettlebell that you prefer or recommend. Thanks!
I LOVE my KB. Only cardio I can do that burns fat and doesn’t hurt my knee joints!!
So excited for this! How does this fit into my weekly workouts though? Can I use a kb for intervals or resistance, or both? Perhaps in addition to? Either way this looks super fun.
Hi Holly
Can’t wait to try Kettlebells for the first time. This sounds silly I know and I tried to see if anyone else asked this question but I’m wondering do you ever use kettlebells at the same time, like dumbbells for instance. Or do you just work one side at a time, wouldn’t this take a long time to complete a workout? I obviously don’t have a clue, just joined Club FYM recently, I’m so happy with it. Thanks
I have been receiving your e-mails for about 2 yrs now and always love to see the short but intense workouts you do. I have been doing mostly 20 minute, interval, body weight workouts for the past few yrs now and seem to see the most benefits doing this. I have been wanting to add in kettlebells for the last year or so but not sure what weight to start with. I occasionally use a 10lb dumbell. Should i go to a 15lb kettlebell? Keep up the great work.
My husband has one kettlebell weight here at home but I’ve never tried it. My question would be what are the differences between the kettlebell and free weights? What are the benefits of using kettlebells over free weights? I would love to give your workouts a try!
I love your Kettelbell interval and would love to do more of it but my
biggest concern is proper form. My lower back always hurts so much afterward which means I am defiantly not using my abs the way I should be. Any tips on that?
If the wrists are not very strong, can we still use kettlebells? How heavy should the kettlebell be? Thanks.
I have never used kettlebells but would love to start using them in my workouts. If I currently use a 10 or 15 lbs dumbell should I use the same weight or use more or less to complete the kettlebell workouts?
Wow i wud like to get my hands on your Kettelbell workout CDs. I cant wait to get a flat tummy after my baby. She is now 4 but i still do not have a flat tummy. You hv such a gr8 body after 2 babies, hats off to your workout. I need to shed atleast 3 inches off my waist. I have a question how many pounds / kgs of kettelbell and how many numbers will be required to perform the workouts? I need to pickup kettelbells before i buy your CD. Your answer will be highly appreciated. Thanx Holly.
Would love to win. Just learning about kettlebell.
Kettlebells are expensive! I priced them at Target over Christmas and was shocked how much they cost—over $30 a piece!
Just saw them in my nearby Aldi last week—a whole set for $24.99. Wowzers! This article has motivated me to pick up a set and take a swing at my stubborn mommy belly
