Is the plot of “Groundhog Day” a parallel for your fitness plan?

If you’ve ever seen the movie “Groundhog Day,” you know what I am talking about.

The main character – the hilarious Bill Murray- is forced to re-live the same day over and over and over again.

He tries everything to escape before finally just giving in to the situation.

Sounds quite similar to the fitness approach many choose to take.

We all know what to do to lose weight.
But what are we really doing about it?

You know the saying…..
“If you keep doing what you’ve always done, you get what you’ve always gotten.”

When it comes to our workouts – why is it so hard to break away from the same old routine – especially if the results we strive so hard to achieve could be within our reach!?

In honor of Groundhog Day why not “escape” the same old routine and get the results you work so hard to achieve!

Begin with this “Your Workout Needs a Makeover If….” Checklist.


1. You are a “cardio queen”

Cardio…the exercise of choice when it comes to Burning As many Calories As Possible so you “Lose Weight”.

What is your goal?
Well if it is to get rid of the stubborn fat – your goal needs to be Fat Loss – not weight loss. Yes, Cardio plays a role, but there is a more effective method that cuts the time you spend in half – if not more. Swap out hours of boring cardio for super effective Intervals!

2. You Resist Resistance Training
Resistance training is the most effective way to reshape your body and the ONLY way to increase your Metabolism. It gets to the core of your calorie burning furnace…your lean muscle!

3. You are Into Resistance Training but perform it After your Cardio Session
Working out in this order will hinder your resistance training results. Tuckered out muscles just cannot get the challenge you need to make a metabolism boosting difference.

4. Follow Your Favorite Exercise Routine Over and Over Again?
Your workout needs variety as well as a progressively challenging strategy to keep your metabolism boosting benefits coming and to help you avoid the dreaded plateau.

Unlike Bill in Groundhog day who is Forced to re-live the same day over and over again….every morning you wake up, you have the power to make decisions that will affect how you feel, think, act, and look for that day.
