Goodbye Muffin Top ~ Hello Size 4 Jeans!

karen+T+ba Goodbye Muffin Top ~ Hello Size 4 Jeans!

At Age 46, Karen Tibbals, a Fit Yummy Mummy Transformation Challenge member said goodbye muffin top.  She can Fit into her Size 4 Coldwater Creek Jeans With NO Muffin Top! Read her powerful transformation journey and the secrets she has discovered to make her body shaping goals a reality.

“After reflecting on my Transformation Challenge experience, I have come to realize

The # 1 Reason I have NOT succeeded

at permanent weight loss over the last few years even though I’ve been trying soooo hard.

I have realized with all Holly’s support e-mails and challenge videos, reading other member’s posts, as well as some other studies I’m doing on the side, that…

I actually HATED my body!

I’ve been fighting myself trying to destroy my body as a way to force it to be the perfect size “Whatever”.

I’ve kept my calories artificially low – damaging my metabolism in the process. And I have worked out too hard and long to make up for the non-workout weeks in order to “Beat my body into submission” to force it to do my will as though it were my enemy.

The Cycle Ends Now!

I have finally realized that this body is a gift.

It’s the only one I’ll ever have. It’s gotten me through 46 years of life so far. It has delivered two healthy children and raised them to adulthood. It has loved, worked, played and worshiped. It has been mostly healthy and strong, if not “thin”. I am indebted to my creator for this body and should be showing my gratitude for it.

I have made the decision to love my body and all of it’s “flaws”, to treat it with respect and give it the nurturing it deserves.

How?

I will feed it healthy foods and I will allow it to bend and stretch and lift and move in order to make it stronger. I will rest and stop allowing stress to build up without taking time out to release it. I will love my body now, so that I will continue to have it to love into my future.

Each morning I look in the mirror and say “thank you for sticking with me” and “I will try harder today to treat you with love and respect”.

The fit and healthy body I want is on it’s way and I will recognize it when it gets here, because it will be mine.

My 12 Week Transformation Challenge Experience

After watching all of Holly’s excellent video tutorials to prepare for the challenge, I modified my goals…she is absolutely right about HEALTH being a top priority.

I have done damage to my health over the years in search of the “perfect body”. So, I want to clarify that to me a “perfect 10″ is balance between the physical, mental, emotional, relational and spiritual aspects of my life. Making the time to fit in time for myself.

I have also started thinking about healthy foods and regular exercise as a way to take care of myself instead of as punishment for making bad choices previously. I think that was the turning point for me. That’s when I really started to see results.

I LOVED what Holly said, “Take the steps that take care of you”.

I found that if I can just take care of TODAY and not try to make up for yesterday or work for tomorrow then all of my todays will add up to tomorrow’s results. I started to make my morning quiet time a priority and spent about 30 min. in my bible study and then either enjoyed a slow breakfast, or a fast workout. Then took time to prepare my lunch cooler for the day.

When I made this my priority, it seemed everything else fell into place and I stayed on track better. I can’t wait to have my annual physical next month. My doctor is in for a surprise!

My Challenge Goals:

1. I want to quit being wishy-washy. I want to set a goal and ACHIEVE it for myself. I want to prove to myself that I can do whatever I set my mind to, and say goodbye to my muffin top.

YES! I’m so excited that I stuck it out the whole 12 weeks. I made a commitment and stuck with it! That was my number 1 goal! Yay me!

2. I am committing to “After” pictures in 12 weeks. My “After” pics WILL NOT look the same or worse than my “Before” pics!

YES! I think they look better.

3. Stick to FYM exercise plan Mon., Tues., Thurs., Fri.

Okay, I did have trouble being consistent. I probably averaged twice a week workouts, with some weeks getting 4 in and some not getting in any. Most weeks I got at least 1-2.

3. Stick to nutrition plan each day with 1-2 planned indulgences per week.

Yes, I did really well here, except I didn’t have as many planned indulgences after the first 4 weeks.

I LOVE this story Karen. It’s brilliant. Well done for sticking with the challenge and treating your body nicely at last – I love the idea of respecting your body as its got you through your whole life this far – I never thought of it like that and its TRUE! It got me all emotional when I thought of all the things MY body has got me through too. Also well done on writing out your thoughts so beautifully – not everyone can do that.

Karen, you are an inspiration to me, and I’m sure to many. You put into words what I also transitioned to during the NYTC 2010 challenge, and it has made such a difference in my paradigm.

Thank you for putting it all so eloquently. You look fantastic (you did when you starated, too!)! You are a beautiful lady!

Keep up the good work. It feels good, doesn’t it?!

Congratulations Karen, You brought a lot of memories back to me of what I went through when I was your age. I took hold of myself when I became and enrolled to become a fitness instructor at the age of 48 and I succeeded after two tries of tough exams, it wasn’t easy with 2 teenagers at home and working but I did that for many years and also taught aqua-fit water classes, so now that I’ve joined fym for support, I still struggle and need to lose 8 pounds or so and some body fat, so I can control my cholesterol and get into a size 6 or 8 like I used to be. Keep up the good word. When I get brave enough one day I will put on a bikini and sent to fym for all to see.

Just want you to know that you have discovered the right balance. First of all, God wants us to love our bodies, even with its flaws. Taking good care of ourselves is what it is all about. So many women hate their bodies even when they are thin and very beautiful. Loving your body is the beginning and when we love ourselves, we want to take good care of ourselves. As we do this, we have more love to give. The results just come because we are consistent with our habits, even if we fall off the wagon, so to speak, sometimes. We just get back on and keep loving ourselves. And we make progress. This is balance. Thanks, Holly, for teaching women this vital truth.
