Fit Yummy Mummy Success Story

“I have shed over 55 pounds and 50 total inches as Fit Yummy Mummy!! After being a very reluctant to post my before pictures, I am now proud to post my afters!

What a difference these past 17 months have made to my body and my life! When I joined ClubFYM on Jan. 1, 2010, I was the heaviest I had ever been at 203 lbs and, as a result, was at an emotional low point.  For most of my adult life, I have been a card-carrying member of the yo-yo dieters club.

I had gained and lost the same 40 pounds more times than I care to mention.  I have tried just about every infomercial diet/exercise plan that has come along in the past 20 years …Do you remember Deal-A-Meal?  I even joined Weight Watchers for a while.

In the months before I started with Fit Yummy Mummy, I had really let my exercise and nutrition go.  I started a new job in September 2009 that required a 90 mile commute and living with my parents part-time.

My lifelong habits of emotional eating were in full force.  I knew I had to get a grip or my health would start to suffer.  Plus, I did not like the example I was setting for my teenage daughters.  I also knew it was not going to be any easier the older I became.  Thank goodness an internet search led me to Holly and FYM!!

When I started the NYTC a week after joining ClubFYM, I decided to commit myself fully to the program. Granted, I was skeptical but very hopeful.

Posting my before photos was the hardest—I felt so exposed!!  As I found my way through the forums and met other FYMs, I was amazed by all of the information and support.  None of the other on-line fitness sites that I had tried offered this level of support and positive energy.

By following Holly’s exercise and nutrition plan, I started to feel and look better within the first four weeks!

My first challenge experience transformed me in so many ways, both large and small. Not only did I lose over 24 lbs, one of the biggest changes was that I learned to trust again.

I was also able to change my attitude. While I view myself as a very positive person, when it came to my body and my chances for improvement I had a very negative outlook. At the start of the challenge, I made the decision to be more positive in my attitude. Since then I have consciously refused to allow negative thoughts to derail me.

My personal mantra has become: “Control what you can control.”

I am finding I am so much more patient and forgiving of not just myself but of my family and of others. With all the stress in our lives this change could not have come at a better time! During one of her coaching calls, Holly said, “You must want to fly so badly that you are willing to give up being a caterpillar to be a butterfly.” With my new and improved mindset, I am spreading my wings and learning to fly!

After stumbling during the Summer Challenge in 2010, I did a lot of reflecting about self-sabotage.   It dawned on me that my entire approach to weight loss had always been from a place of self-hatred: “I hate my tummy,” “I hate my thighs,” and so on.  This realization has helped me turn off the negative internal dialogue and treat myself with more love and respect.  I no longer struggle with emotional eating and frustration with “slow” results.  I am content that my clothes are fitting better and better and that I am losing 1-2 pounds a week.

At the start of the FTC 2010, my main focus was to “get back on the wagon.” With the guidance of the Transformation Kit and the support of my fabulous accountability buddies here at ClubFYM, I have cleaned up my nutrition, learned to love working out, and begun to repair my relationship with myself.

Exercise is now one of my favorite parts of the day.

I have NEVER been able to say that AND mean it before in my life. The Fit Yummy Mummy Transformation Kit workouts are great! I had dared myself to be consistent with my 3 day a week schedule and challenge myself to set personal records. I am proud to say that I have not missed a workout and I have achieved 109 PRs over the past 12 weeks!

At the conclusion of this 12 week challenge I lost another  16 lbs and could wear a size 12 for the first time in years!

With my drastically improved sense of self-acceptance I have created the positive attitude to help me through this wonderful journey to be the best me that I can be!

So at the start of the NYTC 2011, my new goal was to balance physical change with emotional change. I have learned so much about proper nutrition and exercise from Holly and FYM over the past year and wanted to continue to live those lessons.

Until this challenge, however, I’ve been slow to embrace ideas for more internal changes. I wanted to improve my relationship with myself—which has definitely been a “love-hate” affair for most of my life!

As I worked on setting my goals for this challenge, I felt like I needed to implement additional strategies to help me stay consistent while moving forward in my journey.

By keeping a daily gratitude and affirmation journal throughout this challenge, I have felt more focused on the positive aspects of my life and happier in general. I write in my journal first thing each morning—a great way to start my day!

The real “game changer” for me this challenge has been yoga. Holly has often recommended yoga for added movement and stress relief. I started with 2-3 classes a week and now go to 4-5 classes each week. I’m noticing a big improvement in muscle tone, posture, and flexibility. The stress relief and relaxation I feel after yoga class is amazing. Because many yoga poses can be challenging, I am also learning to be more patient with myself and be more content with gradual progress—lessons that really carry over to my fat loss journey!

My results from this NYTC….another 10 more pounds  gone forever!

My Continuous  Fit Yummy Mummy Success Plan

I am going to take everything I have learned and have a more successful Summer Transformation Challenge  this year.

I am also eagerly looking forward to the FYM Summit in July to help me take it to the next level.  More than anything else, I will remain consistent with this program because it works.  I will NOT settle for being a yo-yo anymore!!”

My Top 5 favorite FYM Strategies

  1. Consistency is KEY!—I have learned that staying very true to the exercise and nutrition plan pays off!
  2. Attitude=Results —A positive mental attitude has helped me overcome so many obstacles—from doing a workout when I don’t really feel like it to remembering that I am doing this for me because I am worth it!
  3. Meal planning is important—If I don’t have the right food around the house, then I am much more likely to eat junk. “If you fail to plan, then you plan to fail.”
  4. Protein and produce as the basis for each meal—Remembering this helps me to make sure I’m eating what my body really needs.
  5. 10 servings of produce per day—When I first thought about eating this quantity of fruits and veggies, I thought it would be impossible.  Now I actually eat 12 or more servings most days without trying!

My Favorite Green Smoothie Recipe

Green Smoothies are an easy way to bump up your Produce each say. I make mine with 1½ c water, 4 c spinach, 1-2 scoops Prograde orange Protein powder, a small banana, and 1 c frozen berries (any kind or mixed). Blend and enjoy!
