“I Got An Even BETTER Body After Baby!”
Years ago, before Fit Yummy Mummy, I used other types of workout videos and fly by night diet scams, but I didn’t really understand the best way to workout and optimize fat loss until I started working with Holly.
I have been a part of Fit Yummy Mummy and worked out using the program since Holly began it back in 2006-2007. Believe it or not, but she was my one on one trainer in Elizabethtown, KY before she ever developed the official fat loss program for moms.
And guess what.. I’ve stuck with her advice and training methods since FYM’s inception!
When I first started Fit Yummy Mummy, I wanted to be about 10 pounds lighter and I wanted to fit into my clothes that had slowly started to get tighter and tighter.
When my husband and I started trying to get pregnant and I miscarried twice, my goals changed to needing to maintain my weight and being as healthy as possible to hopefully sustain a pregnancy.
Fortunately, I had my FYM plan in place well before pre-pregnancy, so I was able to continue it throughout, modifying as my belly grew or if I went through spells of sickness or fatigue.
Before I got pregnant, I was about 30% body fat and stayed at a steady 139lbs. for about a year. Right before I delivered my baby girl, I weighed 161lbs. I gained a total of 22lbs. It was not easy for I was constantly fighting my sweet tooth before and during pregnancy, but I was trying to stay active and keep up with my fitness routine otherwise.
I have a better body after baby than I did before my beautiful daughter was even a thought!
Today, my little girl is 7 months old and I now weigh 124lbs. with 20% Body fat!!!
This is the leanest I’ve been since before I married my husband almost 5 years ago! In fact I haven’t weighed this light since I was in high school…but that was when I was doing crazy crash diets, so I’m sure my BF% back then was not as healthy.
I feel like I have energy, and I want to live as healthy as possible – not just for me anymore, but to be an example to my baby girl.
As a new mom, it’s been really difficult finding the balance of life with a baby, meeting my husband’s needs, and making time for myself to workout and just have some “me” time.
I had to be very forgiving of myself at first if I missed a workout or two, but as I’ve become more accustomed to life as a Mom, I’ve been able to use my time more efficiently and have been staying regular with workouts as well as with my nutrition.
I have to say that I was really surprised by how quickly I was able to shed my pregnancy weight and beyond.
I’ve heard it said that if it takes 9 months to put the weight on, you need to give yourself at least that much time to get it off, but that’s baloney!
With the proper nutrition and exercise plan in place, you can lose the weight much, much quicker than you ever thought possible.
Plus, my focus has changed now – I can’t be selfish anymore and think all day about what I’m going to eat next or dwell on meaningless cravings. My day revolves around my baby and how I need to meet her needs, so cravings for ice cream from Baskin Robbins down the street take a backseat, and those carrots I keep handy in the fridge are front and center in my mind as I pass through the kitchen on my way to feed my baby!
POST-PREGNANCY PULL UP GOALS REALIZED!
After I had Maddie, I started working on my pull ups- a little bit here and there at first, but pretty consistently every other day for the past several months. (Every other day to allow for a day of recovery.)
I’ve improved my upper body strength tremendously by using a resistance band hooked around my pull-up bar to rest my knee in and perform assisted pull-ups.
Then a few days ago, I decided to give a real pull up a try, and I actually did 1 from the bottom (arm fully extended) to the top (arms fully bent)! The next day I did 3, took a few minutes to rest and did 2 more. Then I did two more sets starting off with a few real pull-ups mixed with about 10 assisted, to round out the sets.
I’m SO happy that I’ve reached my goal!

Congratulations Mellisa on the pull ups! You are looking fantastic.
As for the nine months on, nine months off, I don’t believe it to be true. While I hadn’t yet found FYM, I managed to lose my baby weight in six months through healthy eating and daily power walks. (I still had the extra weight from before I got pregnant, just not the stuff I gained while pregnant. But that’s going away now with the help of FYM!)
Congratulations on your success, and thank you for sharing your story.
You are awesome Melissa! What a powerful testimony. I LOVE what you said about how your focus has changed and you no longer focus on what you are going to eat next or dwell on that craving – you are focused on Maddie’s needs and the carrots you have in the fridge are what you grab on the way to feed her.
Such an inspiration and a wonderful Mommy at that! Way to go
Congrats!! Your perseverence really payed off.
I am having a really hard time losing my pregnancy weight, but I know that with FYM it will be much easier the second time around! I know that I will be healthier during my next pregnancy, will be better at dealing with cravings and will continue to workout. Losing weight the next time will be a breeze!
Way to go, Melissa!!
