3 Memorable Moments of 2008

 3 Memorable Moments of 2008

A year isn’t made of seconds, minutes, and hours.

In retrospect, a year is made of moments!

Sparkling moments that light up the corners of your memory for years to come, chilly moments that you try to shake off as quickly as possible, and shadow moments—the ones you know are there yet can never quite put your fingers on.

I’d love to hear three moments from 2008 that were your most memorable!

Last night we sat down as a family and discussed the reason why we celebrate the New Year with Tyler. Tyler came up with a list of 10 memorable moments…since that is all the memories his fingers can count. He listed everything from his birthday to Red Sox games and even kicking his 1st soccer goal.

Here are my 3 Most Memorable Moments of 2008

1. Establishing ClubFYM (January)
2. Tyler’s Seizure (April)
3. Finalizing the paperwork…we’re moving to Louisville!!!! (yes, this JUST happened last week)

Then we discussed the concept of resolutions.

To help Tyler understand we presented them as Wishes for 2009!

Did this ever light up his spirit!

He was like….”I can wish for anything I want?”

Take a look at Tyler’s wishes…

Your turn!

Take a moment to reflect on what made 2008 a pleasure for you.

What are your Wishes for 2009?

Feel free to by leave your memorable moments and wishes in the comments below.

Wishing you a Happy New year!

    Dear Tyler,

You are so cute!! You remind of my sons when they were little. You have inspired me to make my own wish list for the new year.
One we share is “to become stronger”.

Happy New Year and may all your wishes come true.

    Hello Holly,

That was a great idea to change resolutions to wishes, it makes it that much more special and much less negative when we think of the goals we set for ourselves in the year ahead.

    Hi Tyler,

This may sound silly, but there are at least 3 wishes on your list that I want on mine!! Disneyland is one, getting stronger is two and visiting Washington DC! Oh, and I like the beach wish too, I hope to do that after I get stronger. :) I really hope all your wishes come true!! You will have to keep us up to date throughout the year!

Wishing you and yours the happiest of New Years!!

Very cute. He is quite a traveler. And his spelling is pretty darn good for a little guy. Getting stronger should be easy for an active 5 year old and I wish for the energy of a 5 year old this year to keep up with my 2 year old and get me through my delivery in May of my second child. Keep reaching for your goals Tyler. Remember even if you “get” to go to all those places this you have lots of time to get there.

Happy travels and say hi to Mickey:)

That is the cutest thing and a great way to start teaching him to set resolutions and knowing that anything is possible. He could not have a better family. Have a great NYE!

Tyler, you are such a sport! And a very well behaved young man. I know your parents are very proud of you and love you very much. Good luck in 2009.

2008: The thing that made me happiest in 2008 was my son, daughter-in-law, and two grandchildren accepting our invitation to move into our home while the adults complete needed degrees. They arrived June 7 and every, single day has been the happiest of my life!

The second most happy: My wonderful husband, who is my son’s stepfather, for coming up with the idea of inviting my family, and supporting them while they go to school. He so totally believes in education that he was willing to give up several years of our “golden years” to make dreams come true for my family. He faithfully does all the grocery shopping weekly, cooks dinner nightly for six, drives our granddaughter to and from school daily, is our grandson’s best buddy (Easton is two), and LOVING every minute of it. What a guy!

The third is suffering several horrendous health problems and managing to cope in a somewhat positive way; I believe that even the new health problems that have been discovered since Christmas will all be treatable and I can finally stabilize and stop feeling like Job.

My wishes for 2009: Good health for my family and friends and for me.

    2. Enough energy (which I believe I will gain through Holly’s program) to continue to teach my grandchildren (who are from a third-world country and had never been off their island) many things. Another joy in 2008 was teaching my daughter-in-law and granddaughter how to make and decorate cut out Christmas cookies, which they knew nothing about.

    3. The strength and courage to purge my life of several extremely toxic people so that I may have peace and tranquility as well as more time for the people who make me happy.
