Fit Yummy Mummy Dani Stevens is NO stranger to the Fat Loss results that can be achieved. Not only has she been a Fit Yummy Mummy since the start of this program back in 2008…..but her first Success Story shares how she made her dream come true!
After having her 2nd baby, she was able to shed the baby fat, get lean and toned for a Photo Shoot…. “Busy Mom to Cover Model“.
Today, Dani, a mom of 3, shares yet another success story. After having her 3rd baby, she was on a mission in 2010 to transform her body all over again.
With the support of ClubFYM and the step by step guidance of the Transformation Kit….as you can see – she DID This and MORE as she was the grand prize winner of the Summer Transformation Challenge and even continued on to tone and tighten her post baby body during the Fall Transformation Challenge.
“This FYM Transformation journey has been amazing!
It was the only way it helped me stay motivated, committed and loyal to the FYM program. Well lifestyle really.
I am happy and proud that I completed 2 of the challenges ~the Summer challenge which I was the winner ….
Total of 6 Inches and 11 lbs lost!!!!
…and most recently the Fall challenge.
~ My Goals were to further reduce my body fat so tone and muscle definition start showing through, lifting and tightening up my bottom cheeks region being more lean and strong looking.
I feel so honored that I was chosen as the Summer challenge winner. I’d like to share the changes I have made and things that I have I learnt since officially joining FYM way back in January 2008.
Dani’s Buff Body After Baby Success Strategies
- Eating supportive foods 90% of the time
- Preparing and Packing supportive meals/snacks when away from home
- I have also mastered a lot of my cooking due to FYM as I pride myself on presentation to appeal to our entire family. I have learnt to make home made dips, almond milk, GF bread, almond butter, yogurt etc… all from scratch!
- I exercise every other day (both strength training and interval training FYM workouts from the T Kit), my energy levels are higher and I have more strength.
- I make the Most of Movement…when I bend over or pick things up I do it in a lunge or squat style.
- Improved Posture and Strong Core.
Being so tall (5′ 11″) I have typically arched my back or leaned on one leg to appear or look shorter ….however now my body switches on my core muscles and I stand tall & straight!
- I try to eat as much raw, fresh produce and protein with all my meals
- I log in daily to a fabulous virtual support network Clubfym daily to get motivation, support and information to my new way of living (and have met amazing women along the way!)
- Improved Mindset
I have also learnt we are not all perfect but we are all here to support one another
So once again I thank you all for my results thus far and most of all Holly for the Fit Yummy Mummy Transformation program!
This new FYM lifestyle is sensational!!!
Everyone is reaping the rewards and of course I end up posting all of this with you and sharing my transformed body ~ so we’re all here together on this FYM transformation journey and it’s a WIN WIN for us all!!

A brand New Year, a BRAND NEW ME! I got my WOW results!
Many of you may have thought it was quite bold, maybe even arrogant, that I ended every post during this challenge with “I WANT TO BE A FINALIST.” However, if you ask anyone who really knows me, you would learn that putting such a statement “out there” is not typical of my character but by doing so, it fueled my focus. I am the type of person who is afraid to fail. This bold statement was out there, I had to live up to it or at least try! The NYTC thus was a challenge that changed every single aspect of my life, not just my body!
To start, my clothes were tight around the waist. Now they are falling well below the hip bones! My tops didn’t meet my pants. Raising my arms would show my middle, but not now! Now I feel great in my clothes and find I need to buy some new ones.
Through the challenge I also became stronger going from 3, 5, and 8 lb. weights to 10, 12, 15 and occasionally 20 and 25 lb. weights! Moves that were difficult prior to this challenge suddenly became “do able” and I had to find ways to make them harder. At the start of the NYTC completing 10 minute interval sessions doing basic moves such as JJ was difficult.
By the end of the challenge I was completing 15 minute intervals of full body weight moves such as Burpees and mountain climbers panting and dripping sweat by the end. I have also found that I no longer dread working out. I LOOK FORWARD TO IT. I make the most of each and every workout and push myself very hard.
I go out of my way to take “extra steps” and get up and move several times a day. I’ve also gained the confidence to try new things such as Zumba, snow shoeing and pieces of equipment such as medicine balls that I normally would have avoided.
I feel amazing. I feel sexy and fit. I am leaner and toner. I move like I am on hyper sped. I constantly hold in my tummy and have a permanent smile on my face.
I’ve noticed in my recent photos of myself there is a light in my eyes. One that had been missing for quite some time. I was silly to think the NYTC would fix everything that was “broken” inside of me but this challenge has given me the confidence to focus on what needs to be worked on. I am finally taking care of ME and not just physically. I have discovered through this transformation I am worth it. My well being-physical, mental, spirtual- is just as important as my family’s needs.
I had been doing FYM workouts via the ebook for months, but it was following the work out plans and the nutritional advice outlined in the TK and staying active in the forums that were instrumental to my success. In the 12 weeks of the challenge I completely changed how I ate, always pairing a produce with a protein, eliminating sugar, soda and a lot of dairy. I now drink a Green Smoothie every morning. Prograde products have become lifelines and staples in my diet and workout plans. I found purpose and drive making my workouts more successful. The words “crank it,” “consistency,” “intensity” and “focus” became my mantras. I quickly learned attitude played a crucial role in my motivation and my results.
I couldn’t have done any of this without the support of my family, my friends and most importantly Holly, the FYM community and my ABs. Day after day they visited my PJ and left wonderful comments and incredible insight into my transformation. I wish I could have reached out more but being my first challenge, I was struggling to keep it all together and often had the same questions they did. I only hope I helped them and inspired them as much as they did me.
Putting my thoughts and actions into words through my PJ was like creating a window to my soul and a road map to my success. Although my thoughts didn’t always make it into the forums or my PJ, I wrote everything down in a colorful notebook I kept with me at all times. Reading others’ PJs helped me to reflect on my own journey as well as provided me with the insight to move forward and jump over my own hurdles.
I am sad this challenge has ended but know that this not the end. A door has been opened for me. I plan to stay an active member of the forums and attack the Deluxe DVDs I bought almost a year ago but was too out of shape to attempt. I look forward to completing more challenges in the coming months and to focus on toning and strengthening my body while adding new supportive foods/meals to my regime. I also have plans in the works to attend the FYM 2011 summit this summer. It is my new goal to personally thank Holly and FYM for what they have done for me. IT IS A NEW YEAR, AND A NEW ME!

Karen’s Final Essay
Wow! I can’t believe it’s Day 84 and the NYTC is over! I also can’t believe I finished my very first challenge! I’m ecstatic that I finished what I started and I have absolutely no regrets!!!
When I joined the NYTC, I was tired of making excuses for the way I looked and felt. I was finally coming to the realization that I was the only person that could help me change. The challenge for me started out as me making physical changes. I figured if I could lose a few pounds then I’d be happier.
Well, I soon learned that that this challenge was not only about physical changes it was about internal and mental changes. After about week 4 and I saw that the physical transformation was happening, something clicked in my brain and I started to feel the internal changes. The longer I went on in the challenge I started to shift my thinking about myself!
I was feeling confident about myself for the first time in a very long time! I was feeling strong for sticking to the challenge and not wavering. I was doing something for me and not feeling guilty about it! The more confident I started to feel the more positive I became. I LOVED how I was feeling and thinking and changing. Amazing!
During weeks 5-8, I interviewed for a job that I really wanted. I went to the interview and didn’t give canned answers I thought they were looking for. I was me, a confident me and was honest and just myself. I left the interview so proud of how I had taken control and let my true self shine through. If they liked the true me great, if they didn’t, then it wasn’t the right place for me!
Well, I got the job and I am finally listening to my “gut” and following my passion! For the first time ever, I didn’t over think it and I just took a leap of faith. I was able to do this because of ClubFYM and the NYTC. I am strong and positive and courageous and none of these internal changes would have occurred if I had not gone through this transformation journey. The physical changes were going to happen because I cleaned up my eating and didn’t skip one workout, but the internal shifts were not expected but what an amazing surprise to receive!!!
Wow, I really am a new me and I can say for the first time in my life, I LOVE ME and I’M PROUD OF ME!!!!!
I rocked this challenge and have zero regrets!!
However, I didn’t make these changes alone! I had the most amazing Accountability Buddies. They were there to listen and reflect and offer me support and guidance. In turn, they’re strength and courage and success in their own transformations were and are inspiring!! The ladies kept things in perspective for me and without their support I’m not sure I would have been as successful!
Also my daily updates in my progress journal were actually therapeutic for me. I could go in and update my meals, workouts, etc and just write about how I was feeling and how things in life were going. My PJ was a place to go and show off my true self without judgment.
Also my PJ kept me accountable. Whether anyone was reading my daily entries, me writing it down made myself accountable to me!
Holly’s strategy of taking pictures of meals was a great help to me too. It helped me strive to make pretty looking meals and ensure I wasn’t over eating and was getting in my P&P at every meal. I won’t stop taking pictures and posting as this has been a big help to me. Not sure I can stop now!!
For me 2011 has been about no more excuses and I can honestly say that I am no longer making excuses. I am accountable for how I look and feel!!! I have found a new lifestyle that works for me and my family and it’s one that I love! I met and exceeded the goals I set back in January.
My achieved my goal of size 8, I lost weight, I’m a healthy role model for my kids. But most importantly, I’m a happier and more positive me inside and out! And a happier me makes me a way better mum and wife! I feel like I have a new lease and outlook on life and I love it!
I can’t wait for my transformation to continue!!

Patricia’s Final Essay
The biggest internal change resulting from my journey during the 2011 New Years Transformation Challenge is that – I no longer see healthy supportive eating and workouts as a “punishment” for a “less than perfect body”. Now I see it as a way to nurture and care for myself and celebrate my body and strength.
I began this twelve week journey with a sense of being “damaged” and “embarrassed” about my body and what I perceived as “weaknesses” resulting from a traumatic labor and delivery. I was caught up in a story that went something like this, “The nerves in my pelvis are damaged, I pee in my pants, my belly is split from diastasis, I can’t run, and I may never be fit again.”
The first defining moment for me was early on, with the exercise of creating a Vision Board. Having never done this before, I was surprised by how much I got into it, quickly filling a poster with pictures and words that depicted the life I wanted to see for myself.
There was one caption that stood out above all the rest: “Let your story unfold…” It was time for me to let go of where I had been so that I could move forward into the new “me”. Time to let go of the old story I had been stuck in and transform into the person I hoped I could become.
I couldn’t have made this journey alone. I felt so powerless that I needed someone I trusted to tell me what to do. I have immense gratitude to Holly Rigsby and how she has beautifully laid out all of the pieces of this complex puzzle in a manner that was manageable and simple for me to follow. Even with this strong scaffolding of FYM nutrition, workouts and weekly homework assignments, I still needed the emotional support of my Accountability Buddies.
I feel honored to have had the opportunity to watch them on their journeys, which was a constant reminder that I was not alone. I was so inspired by their dedication to their process and their positive attitude even amid personal challenges – it allowed me to stick with it and get over the rough patches on my road to success. Perhaps most important of all, I felt very seen and appreciated by them for what I had to offer to their experience. That continued to open me up, so that I was able to share more of my self, and then they flooded my progress journal with continuous support and were able to reflect back to me the success I was hoping for but couldn’t always see without their help.
The second defining moment came about midway through challenge. I realized that I could not count on anyone else to make this happen. If I want to eat supportive foods 5-6 times a day, and workout 3 times a week then I needed to take the actions necessary for that to happen. I had to grow up and take responsibility for my own choices and consequences. I needed to stop hoping that life would “magically appear” the way I wanted it to be.
I especially had to stop blaming my husband for when things didn’t work according to my plan. My whole idea of “support” began to change. It no longer meant “doing it for me” or “holding my hand” — it began to mean whatever helped me to connect with myself, because it was my true self that really wanted this to work and knew I was the one that could “make it happen”. I mentioned during the Week 8 reflection that I was finally “making it happen” on all levels of my life – and it felt good to be living up the name of my PJ (great foreshadowing). Winning recognition as one of the top 5 at the 8 week mini-contest was exactly the validation I desired and needed to click this transformation into a whole new gear.
When I boil my original goals down to their essence, it was to get back to my pre-pregnancy body. I feel proud that I was able to meet all of the weight and size goals I had originally set, and yet my goals also transformed with me. I became much more focused on having more energy, inner strength, endurance and mental clarity. As well as having a more positive attitude, and being more affectionate and present to my family. It occurred to me while I was in Ireland with my family (weeks 10-11), that I was not getting my old body back. Instead, I was creating a new and stronger body. As I emerge from this journey, I realize that there is nothing that is out of my reach.
There are many ways to measure the success of my journey. The process of posting regularly to my Progress Journal helped me to see how much things have truly changes in just 12 weeks.
I did stick with it and complete the NYTC and was very consistent with my meal plans and workouts following the 30 minutes three times a week. Doing that I was able to lose over 10 pounds, 8.3% body fat, and drop three pants sizes to fit into my goal pants. I have cleaned out my closets and given away all the piles of maternity and “fat clothes” that no longer fit me. I was even able to get my core strong enough that I carved 6 minutes off my running time on the 1.5 mile loop I did for my intervals workout, resulting in a personal record of 14:48.
I made meal plans for the week, and tracked my calories (fat/protein/carbs) online. I trained myself to eat smaller portions that evenly distributed my calories over 5-6 meals a day. I added more veggies to my meal plans to help meet the goal of “Power of 10″ servings of produce a day, and made sure there was protein at every meal – which was a huge change for me. Following that simple rule of thumb, I was able to go on vacation and eat out with out gaining any weight.
Not only was I consistent with my workouts, but I actually looked forward to them. As I got stronger I bought new weights to keep myself challenged. And as I realized that the FYM workouts are a component that I want to keep in my new healthy lifestyle – I cleaned out the basement and we transformed our storage room in to a workout room where my husband and I can workout together. I am the strongest I have ever been in my life, and I am now free of the hip/sacral and low back pain that has bothered my since the birth of my daughter almost two years ago.
Now that I am no longer “trying to fix an imperfect me” I am able relax into the enjoyment of living a good life, and celebrate the new me that is ever evolving.
Samaria, Mom of Two, Loses Over 68 lbs.
and Discovers A Beautiful, Strong and Confident New Woman!
I can’t help but look back at my starting stats and feel astonishment & disbelief. It’s hard to believe I was at a lovely 217 pounds in the before photo above.
When I stated, I could barely button up my size 16 blue jeans, and once I got them up my belly just hung over my jeans. This was me before I discovered Fit Yummy Mummy back in May of 2008.
It took me a few challenges to get the momentum going….and now I am amazed that just this past year alone I’ve lost 60 over pounds, made the decision to go back to school, was attending my first semester of college in 5 years and am now working towards getting my degree as a Physical Therapy Assistant…all on top of being a busy mom and military wife!

A couple Transformation Challenges ago, if you would have asked me how to sum up my transformation experience, I would have answered…
“I’m not where I want to be, but I am thankful I’m not where I used to be.”
All I have to do is look back at my before photos of me from and I am quickly reassured that I have surpassed my goals and I am ready to set new ones!
I remember starting 2010 with so much zeal and the fire to succeed!
The theme of this particular challenge was to dare myself…and going back to school after becoming a mother was a daring challenge for me!
For the first time since being an FYM I had to figure out how to deal with sticking to my supportive nutrition when being at school — away from home…away from my controlled environment and not having everything set out the way I wanted.
At first I wasn’t sure what to do but I figured packing my meals and snacks best thing I could do for myself and I stuck with that until my last week of class! It worked extremely well and even saved me money.
I used even used FYM tips when it came to studying. I could not spend an entire hour studying so I would carve out 15 minutes studying a chapter or doing problems and it proved effective!
When my husband returned home from the military, I found myself dealing with yet another obstacle. He came in and he just wanted to eat, eat, and eat! It was not supportive either.
Eventually I stepped on the scale, measured myself, and noticed I “gained” a few pounds!
I knew that after all the hard work and dedication to get to where I was I could not allow out of control eating habits to take over!!
That’s the beauty of having an awesome and supportive program such as FYM. No matter “how bad” or how far off track you may think you are, you can TURN RIGHT BACK AROUND WHERE YOU ARE! You do not have to keep trudging toward that cliff!
I credit FYM & the ladies for the many times I just wanted to cave in and scarf down all that “yummy student cafeteria” food …I took back control and began with the basics, writing down what I ate and going back to the foods that were simple and satisfying and were my staples.
Wow — over 10 inches GONE from my mommy belly!
With each challenge experience, I have come to realize and respect that in order to get to my big goal, great effort is necessary and I am ready and willing to reach that goal! I understand that this is much more than weight loss!
This past year I have achieved more than I could have ever imagined and I am so thankful.
Now here I am taking on the 2011 New Year’s Transformation Challenge.
“Tone and Banish” is my motto for this challenge.
Tone Up: Body, Self Esteem, Diligence, Beliefs
Banish: Bad Habits, Flab, Self Doubt, Negative Thoughts, Bull
My Goal is
to Banish 12-15 pounds this challenge, fit into all the clothes in my closet, get a flat Stomach and Tone up all areas.
this is something I have struggled with….BUT I now see the reason is no more than I owe it to myself. It is my right to be the best I can and I will do it.
Plus I am back in school for I want to apply to the Physical Therapy Asst program in the fall of 2011. I hope to finish these core classes and be accepted into the program.
I just cannot believe how far I have come in so little time, my whole life has changed and I truly mean that. I feel like each challenge, my levels of hope increase.
I feel like as I transform my body into what I never felt was possible, it gives me the courage to realize that so many other things are possible in my life, I just have to put forth the effort and dedication to get the results I want.”

“I started this challenge shortly after having my second child. I was on a mission to shed that baby weight. I was extremely excited to start this challenge because as a new mom, it had been sooo long (9 weeks) since I had been able to work out and I missed my FYM workouts!
I followed the Transformation Kit so I could workout along with Holly. My initial goals were to get back into my regular clothes. Maternity clothes are NO FUN once you have the baby. Prior to the challenge I had several people make the mistake of thinking I was still pregnant. That’s always hard to take, epecially when you have crazy levels of hormones in your system and are sleep deprived. Bring on pants with zippers and buttons!
I started off strong, eating clean and working out regularly and feeling pretty good about how things were going. Then week 8 came along. I almost chose not to do the reassessment. I am so glad I did…My weight had only dropped 1.5 lbs and some of my measurements had actually increased…this really forced me to look at what I was doing.
I started the Ed as a dare and increased the weight in all my RT workouts. I also listened to the interval coaching call to get the most out of my workouts and realised I had been doing them wrong!
I started seeing results immediately! I felt great; I was energetic and HAPPY!!! My clothes started feeling loose and I could see my body shrinking and changing.
This challenge had been so important for me. I am extremely proud of my progress during this challenge, both physically and mentally. I have altered how I approach my life and have made tremendous changes that will stick with me for life. Thanks FYM!”

“I began this transformation with a video Holly made daring us to step out of our fear. It really spoke to where I was at in my life.
In my post…I wrote this: I want to prove to myself that I can face my giants of fear & failure. I want to flip the script in my head. To crush the self defeating mentality questioning if I can really do this or not. This was my I Dare You!
I have done this…My all or nothing mode of operation that often hindered and paralyzed my life was being replaced by the slow and steady wins the race mentality. This change in mindset was huge. The mere fact that FYM is structured in such a way that you attain success in a gradual progression helped me to grow away from my All or Nothing mode of operation. I was beginning to see the proof that perfection was not the answer but that progress is the key.
I realized that I cannot wait for an outside source to motivate me to reach my goals …I had to push and press past the obstacles and persevere.
On thing that has been vitally important to my success is the wonderful ladies that walked this journey with me. I am very grateful for their insight and perspective. When I was down they helped uplift me. No staying in doldrums here at ClubFYM. They helped to draw out of me more of what was there in me. They were inspiring by there perseverance and dedication. When they said that I inspired them it made me want to stick to it to be a good example.
I named my progress journal “Kirstie’s Chrysalis”. It was perfect picture to me that something is happening inside that no one can see. Change. On my focus board I have 3 butterflies where I wrote I can, I will ,I am changing!
How I was eating.
I eat breakfast now ~ I make green smoothies and protein shakes.
I workout 3-6x’s days out of the week
I thought I was strong but now I know that I am and getting stronger. Advanced workouts. 10# weights and stronger in push ups ( against the stairs currently)
I know that I can eliminate foods stick to it and happily live better. The ED helped me in the end. I don’t know that I want to go back.
My eczema has not been aggravated since being on the ED.
Protein and produce is the way I eat now.
My health and energy is much improved.
I am excited with how my body is changing. I like the Girl I see in the mirror.
I am becoming the woman I imagined myself being.
This time I am not daydreaming, I am working and living it out.
As my husband and children see my persistence they have stated how proud they are of me. I want to continue to make them proud. I see how much I matters what I do.
I see that I make a big difference!“

Christina’s Final Essay
“The past 12 weeks has been the kick-start I needed to get my pre-baby body back plus more! I did it! I achieved and even surpassed my challenge goals! I would not have met them if it wasn’t for discovering FYM this September.
I was at a really low point in September before FYM. I was 8 months post-partum and I still looked the same as I did at 5 months pregnant. Resistance training and cardio at the gym twice a week plus power walking with the stroller almost everyday did nothing for my weight loss goals and I was getting desperate. I cannot afford to buy a whole new wardrobe and I needed to lose the weight to improve my self-confidence and body image in order to go back to work in the right state of mind.
So, when I found FYM, I decided to jump right in and Dare myself to stick with the challenge for the entire 12 weeks and achieve my goals!
Physically, I feel so much better than I did 12 weeks ago. My old clothes fit better, I’m receiving compliments from friends and family, the clothes I was wearing at the start of this challenge are now way too big and sloppy-looking, my skin is clearer and I haven’t experienced the frequent bloated feeling that I used to. I have more energy to play with and chase my now 11-month old son. I feel more confident in my own skin around my husband.
My state of mind has improved. Throughout the year, I suffered from post-partum depression and was taking medication. I have not needed to take my meds for several weeks now. I am happier, have more energy and am sleeping better.
Nutrition and Workouts: I was completely stepping out of my comfort zone with the nutrition and exercise but I was determined to make FYM work for me and I have stuck it out. Even posting my before pictures was out of my comfort zone but my ABs dared me so I posted and kept them up.
Prior to FYM, exercise for me included long duration cardio and participating in a resistance training group class. Now that I have a child, I don’t have the freedom to spend hours working out like I used to. FYM is exactly what I needed.
Staying Connected:I am truly thankful for the support all of you have given me. Staying in touch with my ABs and other’s journals helped me to stay focused.
I am so proud of myself and I am excited to see where I can go from here! I am heading back to work in January feeling confident in my skin and looking forward to buying a few new back to work pieces as a reward for achieving my goals. Even my weddings rings fit again!
Thank you FYM family — you have made a tremendous difference in my life!“

10 pounds and 11 inches GONE!!!!
I followed the monthly FYM resistance training workouts and Intermediate Intervals with the soundtracks for this challenge. I started out on a 6 days a week plan. This aided in my nutrition because I would not give in to non-supportive food when I knew I had a workout ahead and then I would not give in after because I had just worked so hard at my workout. Once I conquered that issue I switched to the 3 days a week schedule because I felt like I was revolving my whole day around a 15 minute workout. Because I have so faithfully completed these workouts, my summer shirts are fitting in ways I never thought they would.
I have never been very good at keeping a journal but knowing that others could benefit from what I was writing motivated me to be consistent in keeping notes on my food and exercise each day….I was a little surprised at how much it helped me. One thing it certainly did was make me aware that for about a week I wrote that I would make the same change almost every day. Well, seeing that made me realize that I had identified an obstacle but was just kind of marching in place behind it wondering why I couldn’t get over it.
I enjoyed having others commenting on what I was doing. It seemed to validate my efforts…. I received great benefit from reading my AB’s journals, and even those of ladies who I am not buddied up with. It is so reassuring to see someone else succeed in an area I am struggling in. It helped motivate me to give something new a try. I also learned a lot about myself as I attempted to share advice. It is tough to tell someone else they are not sticking what they say they wanted to do when you yourself are not sticking by your commitment. This encouraged me to follow my plan much closer. I truly hope that my journal and interaction had a reciprocal effect for those I now count as friends. I could not have accomplished this without you girls!!!
So for the final stats!!!! I must say I am pleasantly surprised with the outcome. Not only am well on my way to body that I am proud of, I got to go on a mini shopping spree with my honey and now have a new smaller? Summer wardrobe!

That is a total of 18 lbs and 16 inches of fat kicked to the curb!
I followed Holly’s power of 10 in getting my 10 servings of produce in a day, most of which was greens! I basically followed the principle of eating only things that have a mother or grow from the ground. No frankenfoods! My symptoms cleared up a lot during this time and the weight melted off!
I even followed my no sugar, wheat, dairy or caffeine while camping on 4th of July, as well as both my daughters’ birthdays! I am so proud of that alone! I no longer have sugar cravings. When you focus on the health you are gaining rather than what temporary high you get from the sugar, it is easy to give it up.
I have to say that cleaning up my nutrition is probably the number one thing that led to my success this time. I am very sensitive to sugar and its effects. I am not going back to sugar. It left me fat, old and ugly! LOL! I have not been bored at all with my food. I eat tons of yummy produce, lean proteins, and healthy fats. The only grains I eat now are brown rice, wild rice, and quinoa. So good!
I have been consistent with my 6 day workout schedule of 15 minutes each. I follow FYM exercises faithfully and have increased my endurance and strenght. I am up to 3 sets of 8 pushups now (from 3 sets of 6) and I am confident I will be at 3 sets of 10 by the end of the extension.
I LOVE my buddies on ClubFYM!! They ROCK! They lifted me up and encouraged me in so many ways. I received even more when I could log on and encourage them too! We exchanged recipes and ideas. I could not have stuck to my guns without the fuel they gave me! Very Happy
My other goal for this challenge was to get in shape enough to climb Mt. Elbert (14,440 ft. elev.) on August 14. I now do not have to carry 18 lbs. up that mountain! I totally surpassed my original goal of losing 15 lbs! WOOHOO! We are getting ready this week to make the climb. I will post pictures! I am SO excited to do this!
Fun fact – Since beginning FYM in March of 2008, I have lost a total of 58 lbs. and 51.5 inches!
I have 2 daughters. Sierra 17 and Hayley 11. I live in Colorado.

This FYM (journaling) journey has been amazing!
I found it empowering logging in everyday, writing down my meals, workouts and writing to all my wonderful FYM’s. It was the only way it helped me stay motivated, committed and loyal to the FYM program. Well lifestyle really.
My food was number one!
If I ate properly then when I worked out which was priority number two, it would start to show….when I got my food right (still have my mishaps of protein & produce, 2:1 ratio, UPI’s etc…) however I am here to learn and love the fact that I am learning from each and everyone one of you through your PJ’s and forums with various topics about nutrition and workouts. I love the fact that I have a daily and regular friend called my Green Smoothie as I used to struggle with this in my life and tried many natural bowel tablets and now I just have to eat fresh produce to be regular, who would have thought? Ha! Wink
With my FYM workouts …
I was so proud of myself that I didn’t miss any of them! I did all June, July and now I am starting Augusts workout which truly is an amazing gift Holly presents to us on a monthly basis. I have a girlfriend that needs to go to a gym to get motivated and can’t get her head around our virtual Clubfym network so I am so blessed that I have all you Clubfym members all over the world who motivate me DAILY!!!
Connecting with like minded women!
Whatever concerns, issues, general conversations I had and vice versa it was my AB’s that were there for me and that to me is the greatest accomplishment ever! As you all made me stay true to myself and not give up! Staying connected with all my amazing FYM’s on a daily basis was my oxygen!!! Without you all I would not have accomplished what I did. I have personally started thanking all those AB’s that were there for me since day dot, also for those that just came to my page to view and say hi, I REALLY APPRECIATE YOU!!! Every day I logged in, I had a message from someone somewhere across the globe congratulating me, motivating me, encouraging me, loving me and laughing with me. I consider myself a very fortunate person to be someone’s friend, role model and inspiration. I aspire to continue to grow with you all and show you this is the only true way to a healthy and better you and WE CAN ALL DO THIS TOGETHER!!!

Fit Yummy Mummy Justina, a mom of six, proves that with the right workouts, healthy eats and some determination to want something more…any mom can get an even better body back! See how she lost 14 pound of post baby fat and over 3.5 inches off her mommy belly!
“When I started Fit Yummy Mummy in the Fall of 2010, my initial goal was simply to be more energetic for my kids. I’d also like my current skinny jeans which are a size 12 in Australia to fall off me by the end of the twelve week Fall Challenge so, I can get a new pair. MY biggest goal is just to have a healthier life and a more active life. One I can learn and continue to do.
In just 4 short months, I have achieved this and More!
I have noticed a great change in my moods and how I talk and look at my family. My look out on life has improved. My health has changed as well. I can now tell when my body is telling me that is enough or you shouldn’t eat that again. ( It really tells me that when it comes to sugar) I love it.
I have noticed that I now have tummy muscles again and that you can sort of see them. I am so glad to have them back after so long.
Height: 5’ 5”
Weight- 132 – 118 (Lost 14 lbs)
Size: 12 in Australia to size 8
Waist: 33 – 29.5 (Lost 3.5 in.)
Hips: 38.5 – 36 (Lost 2.5 in.)
Thighs: 23 – 21 (Lost 2 in.)
My back side has taken a great change. I can now get clothes on that I have had in the suite case for about 12 years. I must say now they are so out of fashion that I must go and get new ones. YAY!
I can now stay in the squatting position for quite a length of time with out feeling like I am going to fall. It is great. The best things is, I can even make better decisions of what I am going to eat when I walk into the kitchen. I don’t even really have to think about it.
This journey has been great for me because I didn’t come it to loss weight I came in it as a out for me. Having six children and not making the time for me was really getting to me. The way I was eating and the way I was handling things was not positive.
How I plan to continue?
I plan on still being open to what I need to learn about eating. As well as pushing my self to do my best in my FYM workouts. I love the time I get by myself to do these workouts too.
I am going to set my mini goals and my long term goals for the coming year and stick to them because this is what needs to be done to make me feel good about myself and to help my family.
My New Year’s Challenge Goals
To increase my weights and reps
To Run the 5k run in March
To tone my body
Learn how to count calories
Work my way back up to 10 produce a day
- week 1-4 eat 6 produce
- weeks 5-9 eat 8 produce
- weeks 10-12 eat 10 produce
Plan my PI’s better
Not let the sugar get the better of me.
Rely on my family and accountability buddies who are there to listen and help.
My Gifts to Me for acheving my Goals;
By Week 4- To just fit into jean shorts that I bought.
By Week 9- The short jean skirt I promised my self last challenge.
By Week 12- A healthy me that will be proud to go and see her family in the states. I am so sure I will buy myself something as well.
What is in store for me?
Well I plan on maintaining my weight and continuing to progress with my FYM strength training workouts.
The most important thing though is to let other moms know that it is possible to have the body they want. To let them now that it is possible and ….it really is easy. You just have to put forth the effort!
I am going to get my bikini body back and buy a new bikini for next years long summer…by the end of summer I will have a healthier and happier me!”

“Not only have I lost 10 lbs of body fat….
I’ve also regained 3+ lbs of muscle that I’d lost in the previous year of doing ‘cardio classes’ with minimal strength building”
“When I first started with with Fit Yummy Mummy, my ultimate goal was to get the BEST body I’ve EVER had…which means back to the few weeks before I got pregnant with my son, some 5 years ago.
Now from June 2009, I had gained in my waist, my hips and my overall body fat increased … plus lost lean muscle. A year and a half of negative results when I should have known better, I’m a fitness instructor with 15 years of ‘experience’ (read “cardio queen”). But knowing what to do and doing it aren’t the same thing.
It all happened when I got bored with the gym and started attending local aerobic classes. These were really fun and boy, did I sweat through the 45 mins cardio plus 30 mins endurance/strength segment.
I eventually cut my own resistance training to 1x per week to attend these classes 4x per week!!!
Well, at the start of the Fit Yummy Mummy Summer Transformation Challenge, I did my body composition and found that after spending all my time doing these classes, I’d lost over 2 lbs of lean muscle mass, which resulted in a reduced base metabolic rate!
Hard proof that long cardio workouts plus light weight, endurance type weight training does NOT boost your metabolism or make up for excessive eating.
This style of training also contributed to some overuse injuries!
Fit Yummy Mummy put me back on track with the challenging intervals and strength training workouts and I’ve been able to acheive my lean body again!
After completing yet another Transformation Challenge this past fall, I found it hard to beleive time had passed so quickly from when I so enthusiastically was DARED to believe that I really could do this and that it would work for me.
Since the start of my transformaiton, I’ve had several really positive comments from friends asking what I’ve been doing and my husband loves having my thinner body back!
I’m seeing so much more definition in my abs and my arms are lean and shapely.
June 2010 – December 2010
Weight: 52.4kg (115 lbs) ….48 kg (105) Lost 10 lbs
Waist 26.75″ …..25. Lost 1.75 inches
Mommy belly – 30.5….27.75 Lost 2.75 inches
Hips 36.5″ …..34.5 Lost 2 inches
From a body composition perspective, I’m down to 15.8% and am very happy to have increase my lean muscle mass.
From a strength perspective: I’m up to doing 9 close grip chin ups (palms facing me) and 4 wide grip pull-ups – both with fully extended arms (from 0 at the start).
What Fit Yummy Mummy Strategies worked for me?
5 smaller meals, protein with each, the power of 10 (10 servings of fruits/veggies a day) and meticulous tracking were huge success factors. Consistency was critical for me, having beat my 90% supportive objective (eating clean 90% of the time and keeping planned indulgences to just 10%).
I love the Fit Yummy Mummy strength training format for it’s intensity and effectiveness. I still don’t like the intervals, but do them anyhow because I know they work.
Really, what’s 15 minutes of discomfort when I feel great the rest of the day?
I also switched things up a lot with special workouts of the month at ClubFYM.com, and added some kettlebell training – but all keeping things to a reasonable 90ish minutes a week of official fitness, and several other days of ‘active living’.
What I’ve Gleaned from my Fit Yummy Mummy Transformation
Other than finally looking more like the fitness instructor I am (and having almost achieved my pre-baby body), I have faith in my ability to DWISIW.
I Had To Overcome my Existing Mindset
As a long time exerciser, I really like working out. I’ve read all sorts of materials on effective training over the years, having also been trained as a fitness instructor and personal trainer.
Getting lean and fit is more than a caloric deficit equation (burn more than you eat = lose weight.)
Initially the Fit Yummy Mummy workout plan was counter-intuitive for me (though totally agree with the intensity of strength training) it was the short duration for cardio/intervals that was hard for me to wrap my head around. I waned to do it more frequently and add some extra time of mid-effort intensity…but quickly realized this did NOT lead to lean body results.
So I sucked it up and I stuck with the FYM routines – being 100% consistent. No long cardio sessions or body part weights for me.
I now have a wealth of knowledge about what works for me, and believe I can be an inspiration to others who are ready to change.
I’ve made friends here though this awesome shared experience who, through their own experiences, have touched my life. Thank you!”
“30 minutes, 3 times a week. Gotta love it.”
Martine Kerr, Age 42, Mom to 4 year old son, Dubai, United Arab Emirates
“At the time of entering my 1st Transformation Challenge,
my son was three months old
that’s about when I thought I’d be back to normal…
but I had only lost 6 lbs!
I was weak and squishy after not being especially active during my pregnancy. I was tired all the time, and felt like I would never be myself again.
I was almost 30 pounds heavier than before my pregnancy, and I felt awful about myself.
Everything changed when I received an email reminding me that the Fit Yummy Mummy New Year’s Transformation Challenge deadline was approaching and I decided then and there that I needed to do something, so this may as well be it.
I liked the idea of the quick and intense workouts, the online community and support and the resources that were available on an ongoing basis. My initial goals were to get out of my maternity clothes and back to my pre-pregnancy weight.
Here I am ~ 8 months and a couple challenges later!
Weight : 162 – 144 (Lost 18 pounds)
Size: 12 and Maternity to a Size 7
Waist: 36 – 29 (lost 7 inches)
Mommy Belly: 42 – 37 (lost 5 inches)
Hips: 42.5 – 39 (lost 3.5 inches)
Thigh: 25 – 23 (lost 2 inches)
I am back in my pre-pregnancy clothes. I am much stronger, and see more definition than before I became pregnant…and I was in pretty good shape then!
As a result, I learned some very important things during these challenges- perhaps more important than the weight lost, or the inches lost, or the clothes that now fit that didn’t before…
…I feel as though I’ve made a breakthrough where it really counts – my mindset!
So what have I learned?
• The scale
It’s certainly a tool but it’s not the be-all end-all. As I was losing a pound here and a pound there, I was getting frustrated that the scale wasn’t moving much. However, at the four week mark, I decided to try on a pair of pants that were too tight last time I checked.
Lo and behold, they fit perfectly! I was so surprised that I nearly threw out the scale then and there. I didn’t need that kind of negative feedback when the fit of my clothes was much more indicative of my progress! After six pounds lost (which isn’t that much) I am down almost two full sizes in my pants. Now which number is more important?
• The end of the challenge is not the end of the road.
It is a step toward a lifestyle. My eating is cleaner this time than last. When I fall off the wagon, I don’t fall as far.
The ultimate goal is not to reach a certain milestone by a certain day- it’s to make this lifestyle stick. And each challenge brings me one step closer to that goal.
• Following directions gets you massive results!!!
This may seem like a no-brainer, and Holly is forever telling us to “do what works”- the guidelines laid out for us in Fit Yummy Mummy. Well, at the beginning of the eighth week, I was bloated and not feeling great…I cleaned up my eating 100% and cut out wheat, which I knew didn’t sit well in my body.
After only 2-3 days, I lost an entire 6 pounds. I was back to feeling great and looking a lot slimmer.
If I can see these kinds of results in only a few days of following Holly’s guidelines, what will happen when I really turn this into a lasting lifestyle?
My fat won’t stand a chance!!
• I need my buddies!
Being a part of the ClubFYM community and being accountable to others is huge. And usually, one of two things is true- either I need them, or they need me. I find that when I’m not doing too well, they are there to pick me up and get me back on track. When I’m in the zone, I can return the favour!
- I have lost 18 inches, and 5 pant sizes! I started in a size 12/Maternity and am now able to wear my 7’s!
- I am much stronger and can see a lot more muscle definition
- I can do 10 unassisted push ups, Holly style, and 1 chin up (big goal met there!)
- My nutrition is much cleaner and more supportive
- I feel great, and am looking better every day!
- I know that I am well on my way to reaching my dream body!!!
Thanks to Holly, my accountability buddies and ClubFYM, I know without a doubt that my dreams are within reach. This challenge has brought me closer to those dreams, and I can’t wait to get closer yet in the next several weeks, and in the coming challenges!”
~ Jana Dutkiewicz, Age 31, new mom of 11 month-old baby Kian, The Pas, Manitoba, Canada
“Jacquie what happened? Where did the other half of you go?
Compliments from others give more positive feedback than the scale could ever give for Featured Fit Yummy Mummy, Jacquie!
Read her inspiring transformation success story and how she Did It!
“When I got married 13 years ago I weighed 155 pounds. After 4 pregnancies with a gain of greater than 50 pounds per pregnancy, I weighed about 195 pounds in the Fall of 2009.
I was stuck!
On top of my frustration, I watched my husband lose over 25 pounds because he cut out junk food.
I kept thinking I should be the one losing…I just had a baby!
A little about me:
I was very active in school. I played volleyball, basketball, ran cross-country, etc. In high school I tried weight watchers, but saw no results. I was pretty mortified by having to “weigh in” every week and I don’t think I fully got it at that point either. Weight was about how I looked to others, not about how I felt about my body, my health. It ended up putting more emphasis on the negative then what was possible and I backed out feeling bad about myself.
Fast forward to Halloween 2009
I’m a sucker for peanut butter cups and after a night of going through my kid’s candy, eating as many as possible and then feeling disgustingly gross, I said to myself, “what the heck are you doing?”
This is the very struggle I have with my eldest who also seems to have a secret love affair with food, hiding and eating behind the freezer, etc. I thought, “why am I so upset with Calvin for sneaking food and lacking self control when I’m setting the example?”
This was the… “I’ve got to do something about this moment.”
I had a friend who was following Fit Yummy Mummy and we were at a card making party and I looked over at her arms and saw all her muscle definition.
Someone asked if she worked out, like at the gym and she said no. I was intrigued because earlier in the week she had brought me a coffee and I had looked at her and said that she looked so good, not skinny, but healthy, she looked well.
So after this night of feeling sick on peanut butter cups I looked into Fit Yummy Mummy for myself, and then wouldn’t you know it, my friend sent me an email saying
a challenge was about to start
and it was only 6 weeks, and I thought ….I could commit to 6 weeks, so I did!
To be honest…I went into a mega irritable mood for about 2 days prior and 3 days after the challenge started. But I leveled it up to being like a smoker who was anticipating quitting. Knowing you’re about to “give up” all your treats really sent me feeling emotionally out of control.
Yes! I was able to stick to it and get over the hump.
I started to experience some of the energy people talk about. For all the insomniacs out there who can’t get to bed early, I am the opposite; I’d prefer to go to bed at 8 pm if it wasn’t for all the work around the house.
So for me, I had energy again, I began staying up until 11:30 or so and was ok. I didn’t feel tired or exhausted.
Another change I noticed was that I began to feel hunger again! Like the grumbling! I hadn’t had tummy grumbling in years, from all the putting off meals, or toast and coffee or scraps I had been eating to get through the day until the binge on the couch every evening.
I loved it, like my body woke up and said, “finally, she’s feeding me!”
December 2009 – June 2010
Weight: 195 – 172
Waist: 41 – 31.5
Hips: 43 – 38
Thighs: 29.5 – 26
I lost 23 pounds and over 23 total inches!
Once of the challenges I faced….I have this inner desire to rebel and not want someone, or something tell me how I should or should not eat. The interesting thing with Fit Yummy Mummy is that mostly it was just me who was rebelling against me, no one ever told me I was bad or should stop binging, like I didn’t know.
The point is that the understanding of why you are doing what you are doing is just as big as the exercise or nutritional aspect of FYM.
When I started, I didn’t skip the goals, I didn’t skip the first steps, this wasn’t just about the weight…it was about the battle.
I was able to make it through this because I stayed connected.
I didn’t hide, I talked about my anger, my frustration, my temptations and my binges. It’s in secret that I got this big, I know I can’t get through this in secret either. Many fellow FYM-ers helped me through.
~ It amazed me that I could exercise so little and still get results.
~ It amazed me that I could eat all those calories and get results.
~ It amazed me, that with such a crazy life with 4 kids and roller coaster husband, I could still manage to eat well and put in 15 minutes of exercise a day.
~ It amazed me that even when life spun out of control a few times, FYM life was sustainable, and even carried me through do to the good habits I had already formed.
Prior to Fit Yummy Mummy, I had very little control over my life.
Now I know differently.
I know I have control over what I do with my body and what I put into my body. This really is the only thing I can control in my crazy sometimes chaotic world. FYM didn’t give me that, it just helped me see it and gave me some tools to take back some of my crazy life and gain some sanity.
I’ve said it to many other mom’s and gals in ClubFYM, “mommy matters too.”
This is a message I have been using with my kids, when it’s my time to exercise or my time to eat, I think it’s a message for me, just as much as it is a message for them.
I am most definitely changed
I AM COMFORTABLE IN MY OWN SKIN!
I think of that Dove commercial, “love the skin you’re in.”
How many women can say that? And mean it?
I am wearing shorts again, I am wearing tank tops again, in front of people that is…I’ve never felt like this before!
I am now able to fit into a pair of pants that I got 3 babies ago!! I am able to move into a medium size scrubs at work….and am even more thrilled when I put them on and they are not skin tight!!
Yay,… all this effort is paying off!!
Initially I really struggled with wondering if I should even participate in this next challenge because of late my motto is to keep on keeping on.
I’m not talking about a rut, I’m more talking about staying the course. I’ve got the tools, I still can choose to use them, or instead hold down the couch, I can beef up on bread and chocolate or I can treat myself occasionally to those things and find healthier alternatives in the meantime.
I still have 15 pounds to go to reach my goal weight, and if more comes off after that, fabulous! For now I just want to show my kids some self-control, what an active mom can look like, and how loving others really starts with the ability to love yourself first.
I feel empowered, I feel like I am worth it, I feel like I can and I did!”

“I Got An Even BETTER Body Back!”
Years ago, before Fit Yummy Mummy, I used other types of workout videos and fly by night diet scams, but I didn’t really understand the best way to workout and optimize fat loss until I started working with Holly.
I have been a part of Fit Yummy Mummy and worked out using the program since Holly began it back in 2006-2007. Believe it or not, but she was my one on one trainer in Elizabethtown, KY before she ever developed the official fat loss program for moms.
And guess what.. I’ve stuck with her advice and training methods since FYM’s inception!
When I first started Fit Yummy Mummy, I wanted to be about 10 pounds lighter and I wanted to fit into my clothes that had slowly started to get tighter and tighter.
When my husband and I started trying to get pregnant and I miscarried twice, my goals changed to needing to maintain my weight and being as healthy as possible to hopefully sustain a pregnancy.
Fortunately, I had my FYM plan in place well before pre-pregnancy, so I was able to continue it throughout, modifying as my belly grew or if I went through spells of sickness or fatigue.
Before I got pregnant, I was about 30% body fat and stayed at a steady 139lbs. for about a year. Right before I delivered my baby girl, I weighed 161lbs. I gained a total of 22lbs. It was not easy for I was constantly fighting my sweet tooth before and during pregnancy, but I was trying to stay active and keep up with my fitness routine otherwise.
I’m in better shape post-pregnancy than I was before my beautiful daughter was even a thought!
Today, my little girl is 7 months old and I now weigh 124lbs. with 20% Body fat!!!
This is the leanest I’ve been since before I married my husband almost 5 years ago! In fact I haven’t weighed this light since I was in high school…but that was when I was doing crazy crash diets, so I’m sure my BF% back then was not as healthy.
I feel like I have energy, and I want to live as healthy as possible – not just for me anymore, but to be an example to my baby girl.
As a new mom, it’s been really difficult finding the balance of life with a baby, meeting my husband’s needs, and making time for myself to workout and just have some “me” time.
I had to be very forgiving of myself at first if I missed a workout or two, but as I’ve become more accustomed to life as a Mom, I’ve been able to use my time more efficiently and have been staying regular with workouts as well as with my nutrition.
I have to say that I was really surprised by how quickly I was able to shed my pregnancy weight and beyond.
I’ve heard it said that if it takes 9 months to put the weight on, you need to give yourself at least that much time to get it off, but that’s baloney!
With the proper nutrition and exercise plan in place, you can lose the weight much, much quicker than you ever thought possible.
Plus, my focus has changed now – I can’t be selfish anymore and think all day about what I’m going to eat next or dwell on meaningless cravings. My day revolves around my baby and how I need to meet her needs, so cravings for ice cream from Baskin Robbins down the street take a backseat, and those carrots I keep handy in the fridge are front and center in my mind as I pass through the kitchen on my way to feed my baby!
POST-PREGNANCY PULL UP GOALS REALIZED!
After I had Maddie, I started working on my pull ups- a little bit here and there at first, but pretty consistently every other day for the past several months. (Every other day to allow for a day of recovery.)
I’ve improved my upper body strength tremendously by using a resistance band hooked around my pull-up bar to rest my knee in and perform assisted pull-ups.
Then a few days ago, I decided to give a real pull up a try, and I actually did 1 from the bottom (arm fully extended) to the top (arms fully bent)! The next day I did 3, took a few minutes to rest and did 2 more. Then I did two more sets starting off with a few real pull-ups mixed with about 10 assisted, to round out the sets.
I’m SO happy that I’ve reached my goal!
