Are You Eating For Fat Loss Results? Part 2
~ Step 1:
Get Honest
Consider this….if you continue to avoid, tell fibs or make excuses about what and how much you eat and drink – the only thing you CAN count on is No Results.
~ Step 2:
Start a journal.
Take note of the culprits listed in the Eating For Fat Loss Troubleshooter List
- mindless eating
- drinking your calories
- condiments
- not eating enough
Pay careful attention to how they impact your daily intake as you log over a 5-7 day period.
No, you do not have to be extreme and write down every single calorie but the simple act of writing down your current eating habits will make you take responsibility and acknowledge what exactly is holding you back.
Small habits really do add up!
It is NEVER just one thing or one habit, but rather the accumulation of many small habits.
The most reassuring news you can receive at this point is that by simply focusing on ONE habit at a time, changes will happen and the results will begin to spill over.
Habits take time to develop and as the saying goes…it takes 21 days.
Your body takes time to adjust!
Have you given yourself a fair chance to make new habits work for you?
Many women come into the Fit Yummy Mummy overexercised and underfed. Results take time. Time to develop new habits that you can practice with consistency. Time for your body to first heal and then time for your body to begin to respond to the positive changes you are making.
Reshaping your body is a process.

Wow! Looks like a fab holiday! I am jealous!
Just wanted to say that all these nutrition tips are finally starting to have an impact.
First, I cut out bad carbs, then I cut out all carbs (almost), then I found I was gaining weight and feeling lethargic so I put good carbs back in and I started using the nutrition planner. Over the course of the first 3 weeks of the challenge I actually gained 2 pounds but as I listened to oyur tips and videos I worked out what I was doing wrong. As I continue to learn these small changes, I find I am more energetic, I have fewer cravings and I have lost the 2 extra pounds and 3 more!!! THANK YOU HOLLY!
Great pictures by the beach. I was kinda surprized not to see an exercise video taken on the beach….but hey, everyone needs a break !!! Glad to see you had a nice vacation.
Ive just had my fourth child at 43 years old – he’s four months old now – things are definately not going back the way they did before and I have to try something new. Having been an emotional overeater also since I was 18, I think these two steps will be very important for me. It is very easy not to face up to the impact our own bad habits, even if they are just minor things…they add up to have a big impact on our weight gain and control….I hope that once I have the courage to keep a journal and be honest with myself, it will be a major step towards having a better relationship with food and my body. I have great hopes that you will be able to help me, Holly. I have checked out your videos and before I would have dismissed them as being way too simple to make a difference – but I am ready to try something different after years of yo-yo dieting.
Writing this post is my first step to commitment, as it will help me to feel obligated to follow on with this plan now I have started.
Hi Holly,
I enjoy your tips and exercise advice and have been doing all the good fat burning exercises you showed on your videos and they really work. I thought I was a lost cause and was a gym member for over 5 yrs but never understood why I wasn’t getting the results. I was killing myself at the gym, but had little to show for it. Finally after some research, I saw it was my diet and eating habits that were the culprit. I read some books, downloaded some fitness training advice and suddenly lost 15 lbs in less than 2 months. Now I am burning fat effectively and my workouts are intense enough to get good results and I am not worried about wearing a swimsuit this summer as I feel confident that I will look great by summer. Even my Dr, who hadn’t seen me in a year really noticed the change in my appearance and my belly is flatter and has a lot less fat. So glad I found this site, along with some others who are very good.
I agree completely…. and add – aim for progress, not perfection!
WOW!!!!! Holly the pics are gr8. I’m glad you had a well deserved break. Keep up the work and welcome back….
Useful tips indeed…writing things down really increases awareness and awareness is the first step towards change JIMO. Once you know what you’re doing you can make better choices and decide to do something different. I’ve just started on yummy mummy and have no idea what i now weight (2 weeks later) because my scale is not my friend. (-: But my habits have changed–FYM workouts/intervals 6 times a week, more protein, etc…and my clothes feel different. So we’ll see.
Definitely true. Keeping track of what we eat will show how well we are doing and where we are struggling. Honestt is the best policy especially to ourselves. Next time Holly, take me with you? I’m having kind of a bad year so far. 2009 was bad too.
Hi Holly,
Lovely pic. Well deserved break i guess. You look fabulous as the sea in the background. Have been making gradual progress with my starter routine. My energy levels are definitely better. Its the diet which is a challenge to balance. As i live in India our palates are way different here , still i am keeping tab on things. I could honestly do much better, but one has to begin somewhere right ?! Looking forward to your continued inspiration and support. Wishing you a great year ahead with life filled with love, great family bonds and success.
Nice to know you enjoyed yourself in the caribbean (Bahamas). It really can be a struggle to stick to diets sometimes, especially when you are a full time mom and hold a fulltime and parttime job. However, if you stick to the task and be determined, you will achieve your goals.
