What’s the #1 Secret To Staying Motivated?
You set your “weight loss” goal.
It is specific, realistic and you are sure of the reasons why you want to lose weight.
You have taken the time to write out you workout schedule and even set aside the time to do a couple of energizing routines.
The bikini you plan to wear this spring is hanging on the mirror in your bedroom and your “before picture” is posted on the fridge.
You cleaned out all the “junk” from the pantry. You feel in control and this time you are ready to turn your life around!
By the 2nd week of January, your “weight loss” journey turns a critical corner.
Your motivation completely fizzles …..
You just don’t have the time or energy to workout, the bikini on your mirror becomes a nuisance, the picture fell and slid under the fridge and the last trip to the grocery you found yourself stocking up on your favorite potato chips and chocolate bars.
At this point you pray no one asks how your progress is coming along……
But should you?
Is the interest of others always a bad thing?
What if from the beginning you actually made it a priority to also involve others as you set out to reach your goals….to actually ask for help?
While motivation is a powerful tool for “weight loss” success, the fact is, however, that motivation just doesn’t last very long as I explained in yesterday’s post.
And let’s be honest, what truly motivates us are RESULTS– but on a day to day basis those results can be difficult to see!
The missing link to your motivation, to your success, to lasting results is Support!
Support: The #1 Secret to Staying Motivated
Imagine the tremendous, positive impact a support system would have on your motivation which in turn will affect your ability to achieve and KEEP results.
When you enlist the support you need from someone close to you or from an outside source – you receive almost immediate feedback in the form of …
- encouragement
- validation
- advice
Plus you create accountability!!!!
These features in turn will Refuel Your Motivation, help you stay on track, to stick to it as well as provide you with the right resources to help you maximize your body shaping results!

It’s amazing how we don’t realize the importance of a support system. Even if you have support at home it’s nice to belong to a group of women who are on the same plan as you and are having the same struggles. Or just to hear that someone else has “been there” too! ClubFYM is a major part of my success!
Yes support is the key and motivation!!
Studies have proven it over and over that support and accountability is the key difference between those who set a goal and reach it, and those who don’t.
Holly, I sent someone over who was interested in dvd’s. All the best.

Hey Holly!
I totally relate to Linda’s letter above! When I “left” FYM during my pregnancy, I lost all motivation to workout and started up unhealthy eating habits again.
Being involved in the Holiday Hottie Challenge with my accountability buddies was a MAJOR help! The thought of someone else reading my journal and seeing what I’d actually been doing (and eating) and sending the accountability photos to you directly really spurred me on to eat clean and complete all of my workouts… and we know the result!
I can’t thank you enough for your wonderful coaching and terrific website and the awesome women I’ve met there!!
Totally looking forward to the NYTC – to anyone reading this who isn’t in Club FYM… please pop over and join up!! It’s the best choice I made last year and I’m still seeing improvement
Love your work Holly!
How do you ladies have enough time to do the workouts, plan the menus and spend time on the computer? I joined over a year ago and could not find the time to stay on the computer as much as it seemed like I should to get as much out of it. I didn’t have trouble doing the workouts and I love having the dvds. I am wondering though, do most of you do a workout three times a week or are you doing more?
Great post Holly!
That’s so true, everybody starts motivated, but with time things start to slow down… but with the support that we have at Club FYM things change, and we are able to keep the motivation high. What a wonderful group of Ladies!!!
Thank you so much for all your work Holly!
The support at ClubFYM is probably the KEY element to my long term results! I lost 50 lbs and went from an 18 to an 8 in a year! All with doing Holly’s FYM plan and being active in ClubFYM! The women there are AWESOME!!!
Hey Laura
I get up pretty early (5.30am-6am) to do the workouts 3 days a week. This takes just over half an hour – 5min warm-up, the resistance training as set out in the FYM program, followed by about 15 minutes of intervals, then a 5 minute stretch and cool down. It helps to get my day going and give me energy.
I factor in maybe an hour in the evening – I have given up watching TV! – after the kids are in bed to log my progress and reply to my accountability buddies.
Meal planning is done once a week before I do my shopping. Keep your weekly meal plan and shopping list and cycle them every couple of weeks – much easier than planning everything from scratch every week!
Also, if I didn’t work to a time management plan there is no way I would find time to do everything and look after the house and kids!
Hope this helps. Good Luck!
